Blick's was the only place that I was able to get the Encausticbord and it makes such a difference for the longevity of an encaustic painting and how great to have it shipped right to my door.
Best of the Best
from Lexington, KY
I use the ampersand encausticbord when I create collages or paint with acrylics. They work well because they absorb the water, paint, and acrylic gel mediums great. If you want the best, you may pay a little more. The only problem I ever have with the ampersand bords is that they all chip on the corners either in mailing or storage even when you handle them carefully. They are always packed well when they are mailed to me. I usually repair the corners or cover them up. I love the cradled side and usually buy the 11/2".
Economical & time saving
from Denver, CO
Saves me time as I don't have to pre-coat my panels with encaustic gesso. A very smooth surface & a good price.
from Venice CA
First time ordering on line and it was the best to get exactly what i wanted directly at my door. The size of boards i use aren't at brick and mortar shops so this was great!
Versatile and professional looking product
from Oklahoma City, OK
I have been using Ampersand's Encausticbord for years and that's unlikely to change. The surface is a nice balance of being smooth and having just enough tooth. It has always come well packaged without defects and I love the option to get it cradled-it is a really nice modern look.

Encausticbord for mixed media
The surface is great and holds onto all kinds of media with no trouble. I like the cradled better than flat for display purposes. I wish dick blick would protect edges better when shipping I have had to return at least two due to crushed edges. Great surface and overall product.

Encaustic Art is becoming more popular and the materials, particularly the quality of the boards, are really important.
Good for encaustic and cold wax
from Davis, CA
Works well for base layers of oil/cold wax--material sticks to surface, absorbs, available when removing top layers.
Perfect substrate for encaustic
from Beverly, ma
These boards are just what I was looking for. After trying various other boards, I find ampersand the best. They are prepared for instant application of wax, collage, color marking, etc.
