Field Watercolor interleaved Sketchbook
Comments about Strathmore 400 Series Field Watercolor Sketch Book:
Watercolor paper is too textured for pen, ink other multi media techniques but the interleaved pages are excellent for my purposes. How about a similar heavy weight, but smoother paper interleavedwith same writing weight pages also about 20 pages of each type would be more useful size.ThanksS

Great Sketch Book
from Grand Rapids, MI
I use this sketchbook as an art journal. I particularly like the size and the combination of watercolor paper alternating with drawing paper. The size is convenient, not too big and bulky and it also lays flat. I really haven't found anything comparable. I combine lettering, watercolor, drawing, and transferred images in my journal, so having both types of paper works well.

Wonderful product for a nature notebook
I first bought this product at a chain store but they no longer carry it. I use this sketch book for my personal nature notebook. The spiral binding allows the book to lie flat while I sketch/paint. I like having the pages alternate watercolor/ smoother paper so I use the one for paints and the other for pencil sketches. Lovely book!

I will buy this product again and again
from Annapolis, MD
I use these as travel journals. I carry one every time I take a trip. I write and do pencil and ink drawing on the sketch paper. I paint scenes from my trip with watercolor or do a ink and wash drawing. Make for great memories.

Great Art Journal Resource
By Abigail's Muse
from San Dimas, CA
I use these sketchbooks for my art journaling. I can wash all the pages first, and then use ink and other media to complete the page. The pages are heavy enough to support all the things I want to do to them, and the limited number of pages means that the journal doesn't get over-sized in the process. I go through one every month or so. The smaller size fits in my purse and travels easily. The only thing close to this is a much smaller "visual journal"--more pages but less space.

A new use for this watercolor book!
By Robert Sloan
from Russellville. Arkansas
This watercolor journal has a distinct advantage with those interleaved sheets of drawing paper. Sure, it's great for field sketching with water mediums. But I'm purchasing it for something completely different - a pastel journal.Soft pastels need a cover sheet to protect them from smudging. If I prime the sheets with Colourfix sanded pastel primer or Golden sanded primer, I can do watercolor underpaintings or choose my ground color. Then use soft pastels on site for plein air without worrying about how to store the finished paintings - the drawing paper sheets should protect them just fine. I'll be testing this out and write a second review after I've tried it, but this is on my list for that project.
