Strathmore's 500 Series Charcoal Paper is a 100% cotton fiber, acid-free paper that has a traditional laid pattern for precise shading with charcoal and pastels. Its raised texture is also suitable for pen, pencil, or art crayon. 64 lb (95 gsm) weight.

Like these paper surface okay compared to regular drawing papers.Has more tooth but more like texture .A bit rougher of course makes for better avenue to create.

I do an old art form called Quilling in a very new and different way. I discovered that charcoal paper is very good for this and have been using it for years. It holds its shape, is easy to work with and does not fade. All very important things for me.

The paper has the correct middle value for my portraits and the texture allows blending in numerous ways. I recommend it to all of my peers.The oil paint colors were from Old Holland, Rembrant and Windsor Newton, were very specific colors that I use exclusively. Finanlly, I use Blick art materials because the ordering and information program is easy and very informative.

Good paper for sanguine drawing although it's rather thin and 19" x 25" is a rather odd size. If it were thicker and a few inches larger, say 22" x 28" one could cut them in half for 11" x 14" but as is, valuable paper gets wasted.
