I continue to use the toned Strathmore 500 drawing papers because I can depend on the quality, colors and the linen finish. I use it regularly with colored pencils, carbon & charcoal pencils & pastel pencils. I like the way the tooth of the paper grabs the colors for subtle shading or strong lines. And it does not "fuzz" up as some of the other charcoal papers I have tried.

Wish the paper were a bit heavyier for my anima portraits

It was rather hard to judge the paper from the catalog. I was looking for the soft green shade and it was the right color, but the paper did not have enough body for my work.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Strathmore 500 Charcoal - Color - Green Papers
I love the green color of the paper and the qualtity is great for my pastels and would order again but, I would phone in the order to make sure care was taken with the paper. All of the sheets had a large dent in them so I would say it was the first time I've ever had a problem. I've ordered many times with Dick Blick and everything has been shipped extremely well.
High quality products
Use with pastel paintings.

Required media for a course I am taking. Beautiful paper with low texture, but perfect for pastel pencil. However, there are vertical lines approximately 1.25" apart that run throughout the paper and my pastel pencil skips right over them meaning they are visible. Also, the stickers they use for scanning when stacked up as a ream the stickers make an impression on every paper in the stack. Bottom line. You can't use the whole sheet. It is on the bottom along the side. But, it is a visible impression on every sheet that was sent to me.
Great Drawing Paper
from Garland, TX
This is a nice traditional textured paper for pastel & charcoal. It is archival, but not expensive, and unlike other similar papers, it's 100% cotton. It works well with hard & soft pastels & charcoal. It's great for drawing/dry media overall. The color choices are great.
