Like QoR Modern Watercolors, these grounds combine the best of tradition with the latest technical advances, resulting in remarkable quality and performance.
QoR Cold Pressed Ground
Applying this ground to a variety of substrates creates a surface that has the appearance of rough handmade paper. It's especially ideal for dry brush techniques. A smoother finish can also be achieved by skimming the surface with a wet palette knife during application.
QoR Light Dimensional Ground
When applied to virtually any substrate, this lightweight white paste creates a super-absorbent, sponge-like surface. It can be laid down in a smooth, thin layer, or built up to create ridges, peaks, and other interesting textures. The resulting surface allows washes to spread quickly, while accommodating fine lines and details as well. Dropping color into lightly wetted areas creates beautiful blooms.
QoR Watercolor Ground
This fluid acrylic primer creates a porous surface similar to hot press paper on many different materials, including canvas and panel. It dries to an absorbent, lightfast, and flexible surface that withstands repeated lifting and scrubbing. Suitable for a full range of watercolor techniques, including washing and staining, it can also be used to return stained areas to an absorbent white surface.

This product dries quickly allowing me to begin my painting within the hour rather than waiting 24-48 hours.

Nice for specific applications
I would use this ground on projects where I wanted to see a cool brush type effect under the watercolor. Because unless you roll it on, you can see the brush strokes (see pic). It makes a cool effect, but it has a different look that on a traditional piece of wc paper.

Rough on brushes
from Southern California
Bought this product along with QoR watercolors from Blick. Seeing as it is to be used with watercolors, I didn't expect it to be such a harsh surface once dried. Do NOT use your good brushes to paint on this surface (but then again, if you can't, why bother even getting it?). The surface dries to a sandpaper-like finish that will eat at and destroy your brushes if you watercolor on it. Golden needs to re-formulate this product to make it more like a paper paste once dry instead of something that feels like acrylic gesso with sand in it.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
