Nice Heating Tool
I use this to heat encaustic. It produces enough hot air to push melted wax some but not too much. The heating tool isn't loud but does produce some sound. It does heat up quickly once turned on. Feel this is/was a good purchase.
Tried several, this one is TOPS !

When you are embossing with powder and ink, you want heat quickly and evenly. This was my expectation of this tool, and I was not disappointed. Even heating is foremost reason for purchase this tool.
Use it Right/it will work well for years
from Portland, OR
I teach lots of art classes and have used many of these embossing guns over several years. As long as you use it correctly (don't cover air vents while holding it and don't get it so close to your project that it overheats) it will work well for years. Easy to hold, light enough so it won't hurt your wrist. I recommend these to all my students.
Not worth the money
This tool only lasted 6 months before dying. It worked well while it was working, but it didn't last long. Would not recommend it at all.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
6 OF THESE HAVE BURNED UP!
from North Carolina
I have been thru 6 of these that have stopped working because they get too hot even after they were turned off. Not enough venting on them to cool off the heating element. Contacted the company. They were of no help at all. Stay away from these. DANGEROUS
Merchant response: At Blick we always attempt to provide the best information possible to our customers. To prevent overheating of the Marvy Uchida Embossing Heat Tool, the nozzle should be at kept least three inches from the surface being heated, and the tool should be held so that the intake vents are not covered. If you ever have specific questions regarding our products or how to use them, please contact our Product Information department at firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling (800) 933-2542. Our product specialists will be happy to help you with questions about art materials, product applications, and techniques.

I intend to use this heat tool for embossing projects with my 5th grade GT art classes. It is safe, compact and heats quickly. A great tool at a great price!
