Welcome to dickblick
This special medium was developed to provide a non-toxic, environmentally responsible alternative to solvent based, rapid drying alkyd mediums. It closely resembles combinations of sun-thickened oil and natural resins used throughout the history of art, but with the advantage of being solvent-free.

Comments about M. Graham Walnut Alkyd Medium:
Learning to paint in the way that Arletta Pech uses her mediums and cleaners. Nice to have something good for both me and the environment.

the best medium for oil
from Corvallis, OR
Ready-made, no odor, solvent-free, non toxic, fast drying, imparts a nice sheen. Great for glazes. It is flammable, though.
Feeling healthy with walnut alkyd medium
By Ama T.

I'm really glad to have gotten this stuff. It makes me feel good about oil painting with minimal chemicals as M. Graham says the medium itself is food safe. Glossy if used a lot, and not extremely cheap, but I do think it's the best medium out on the market right now, because it doesn't have safflower oil or solvent. Feels good to paint with and has good drying time. Good healthy alternative to helping us stay safe and healthy and keep doing that oil painting we love so much!
The goal is not making an art, It is living a life.
I use your products mainly for different types of works such as oil painting , drawing etc. Your products always encourage me to concentrate in my work and i get better output. The main advantage is paints are of high quality. I get maximum satisfaction when I use your products. One of the main limitations is you dont have international shipping. It is difficult to get your products from USA to Bahrain where I live.

I was using this primarily as a medium in place of linseed oil, then I tried clearing my brushes with it. It gets so much paint out of the brushes that I didn't know was left in them!

Love This Stuff
By Druh Ireland

Not many non-toxic oil mediums out there, so very happy to have found this. On the can, it says to use 3 drops per inch of paint. Wonder if that means inch of paint squeezed out of the tube, or inch of brushed out paint??? Anyhow, I use more than they recommend, and I also mix it with linseed oil. Doesn't change the color of the paint, helps make the paint more spreadable, and helps the oils dry more quickly. Out of the can, it is slightly thicker than linseed oil, and not as thick as stand oil. A real pleasure to work with. Maybe it's the cost, but I reach for the linseed oil more often than this medium, even though I love using it. Highly recommended!
