She introduces viewers to Hot Cakes encaustic wax paints and explains what they need to get started, then demonstrates the basic techniques of color mixing, fusing, and texture building.

Bevier also clarifies how to utilize encaustic-specific products such as Slick Wax to clean brushes between color changes, and wax medium to apply a basecoat on substrates. She then moves on to more unique techniques such as carving, collaging, glazing, and printmaking, and even shows how encaustics can be used on ceramics and larger paintings done on standing easels.
