The revolutionary printing plate that enables a faster, friendlier approach to printmaking now has its own guidebook! In Gelli Plate Printing, Joan Bess — inventor of the concept for the Gelli Arts Gel Printing Plate — unleashes the fun through more than 50 step-by-step projects.
For artists and crafters who love the creative possibilities of monoprinting on gelatin but not the prep time, mess, and inconvenience that come with it, the Gelli Plate is a dream come true! It's durable, reusable, storable at room temperature, and ready for use whenever inspiration strikes.
In this premier guide, Bess shows you how to create intriguing patterns using your Gelli Plate and tools like sponges, textured rollers, homemade combs, stencils, and rubber stamps. You can experiment with metallic paints, dimensional paints, and gel mediums. Become a "texture hunter" and explore a wide world of effects using embossed papers, natural objects, rubber bands, lace, corrugated cardboard, metal tape, die cut letters — anything goes!
Beginners can enjoy immediate gratification and have a stack of amazing prints in no time. More experienced printmakers are pushed to experiment, adapt, combine, and layer. It's easy, fun and totally addicting!
For added inspiration, a 26-page gallery is included to show the many wonderful ways artists are incorporating Gelli Plate printing into their work.

Comments about Gelli Arts Gelli Plate Printing:
I have joined the Gelli Printing Plate craze. It's a lot of fun, but if you don't have a group to join, there is a book in the back of Blick's catalog called Gelli Plate Printing by Joan Bess. It's probably the best "how to" book I've ever bought. Lots of techniques with step by step photos.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

An excellent tutorial
By John the Retired Costumer

I bought two gelli plates to give them a try, and decided to get the book written by the woman who developed the product. I have looked at tutorials online, but did not want to run back and forth from my computer to my worktable. I'm glad that I bought the book. There are lots of examples, good pictures, easy to follow instructions, and lots of advice. I have some art background, and find that many of these How-To books are a bit too simplistic for me. However, this was a new method for me, so the book was (and still is) very useful. The links and the artist examples were also very beneficial. They have been a bonus that I wasn't expecting.I don't really have anything to report on the downside. I've owned, or gotten from the library a lot of art technique books, and this is as good as they come.
