For all of its usefulness, acetate does cause a few headaches — ink that won't stay, a yellow or grayish cast to old acetate, edges that curl. The alternatives are expensive and sometimes just don't suit the purpose.
Dura-Lar is the acetate alternative. It combines the best features of Mylar® and acetate, and offers a variety of products so that you can purchase the film that suits your needs precisely. It is always consistent in color and overall clarity, and won't discolor with age. Dura-Lar is archival quality, safe for overlaying artwork, and it lays flat. It will remain dimensionally stable for as long as you need.
Both sides have a matte surface which accepts ink without feathering, as well as pencils and otherdrawing media. The surface is erasable. Its thickness is .005" (.127 mm), medium weight.
Handling Charge — When ordering sheets of paper or board larger than 18” x 24” in quantities of less than 10, a $3.00 per order handling fee applies. Paper or boards may be assorted to reach the quantity of 10.

Comments about Grafix Dura-Lar Matte:
I use this product for colored pencil drawings. It's a new technique I'm trying and it works well. It gives a luminosity to the artwork and allows for ample layering and reworking as needed, and for mounting over different colored paper as appropriate to the piece. Love this stuff!

Holds ink very well with great opacity! The large sheet is great for cutting down into manageable papers and the packaging it came in was done with excellent care.
I would buy this item again.

Love the paper!
I had never used this type paper before but was curious. It works great for pen and ink or pencil. Color pencil doesn't work too well.

Great for tapestry cartoons
By Elizabeth the tapestry weaver
from Albuquerque, NM
I use the large sheets of duralar for making cartoons for use on my loom to weave French tapestry. I love the weight of it, the fact that I can see my original drawing well when I place the duralar on top for creating the contour outlines to guide my weaving process at the loom. I use sharpie markers of different weights and they do not smear. I can sew by hand to the woven heading the duralar with needle and sewing thread and it does not tear. I recommend this to all of my tapestry students.
Dura lar is great

Duralar is great, it feels good to draw on and you can even erase ink. It is a little fragile so you need to use glassine when you transport drawings.

When I looked online I didn't know which product would work best for my granddaughter's Glinda the Good Witch crown for Halloween. I called customer service and the rep was very helpful and suggested this product over one I was looking at. I really appreciated his great attitude and help choosing a better fit for my project. Worked out great!!

grafix dura-lar matte

This product performed fantastically on my first try. Durability and transparency are perfect.
I bought this product for a workshop with Linda Kemp as she prefers this brand. It was perfect. Others had some less expensive products and were not happy with the results. We were making backgrounds for negative painting of landscapes.
