I use this to make pamphlet-style books for use with goauche. It takes the paint well, only minor buckllng and it dries flat. The paper folds and sews well, too, and is thick enough to provide support without being so thick it's difficult to make into a useable book.

I like having the range of colors as supports for the gouache--the charcoal, felt gray and black are especially nice.

In my own work I prefer sanded paper, but for my art teaching, these sheets can be cut into 5 pieces each slightly over 8x10 inches, so it's an incredible bargain. In my opinion, it works as well as Canson Mi-Tientes which costs more.

I apply a thin coat of Liquitex transparent gesso (no water added), spread thinly and quickly with a large brush and blow dry to create an inexpensive sanded surface without warping. the color of the paper will still show through.

I am really fond of Fabriano Tiziano paper which I purchase by the sheet. The paper has good tooth and does a pretty good job of holding pastels. Most importantly for me, unlike Canson Mi Teintes and other brands, it does not leave a machined or mechanical look - the tooth is smaller and more random. You can still flair out with light tough and illustrate the tooth of the paper, but you will never have to labor to hide it.

It is a solid, inexpensive support that will allow you to practice pastels while not going broke. Sanded paper like Uart or Wallis does a much better job and produces richer, brighter renderings, but at 10 times the price.

I have been using Canson Mi Teintes forever, as a ground for drawing with crayon, oil pastel, charcoal, graphite, etc. I didn't think I needed an alternative until I tried Tiziano. Now I am finding that it works better in certain situations. The surface of this paper is quite different: it has "tooth", but without the mechanical woven look that some drawing papers have.

I use colored papers mostly for dry media, such as oil pastels, artist grade wax crayons, graphite, colored pencils,etc. I have not tried Tiziano yet for semi-wet media like pen and ink, but I think it will work fine with a brush pen or water-based marker in a light application. I am especially impressed with how the paper takes color from wax-based crayons. I had used Neocolor I crayons on other paper, and wasn't too excited about them until I saw how nice they look on Tiziano. I had hoped they would be another good portable sketching medium like oil pastels, but they just didn't have the coverage or brightness I wanted. But on this paper they really pop. This alone is a reason for me to keep buying it.

Dislikes: None. This is another fine product from Fabriano.

I used the paper to make a variety of drawings using pencil, color pencil, ink and markers. All mediums worked well, although there was slight initial warping when I used washes on the paper. However, I was able to flatten the paper once again. The paper is also thick enough that I have been able to carve into it without piercing it completely.
