This stunning paper delivers the purest bright white available without the use of optical brighteners or bleaches. Fabriano's Artistico papers are mould-made of 100% cotton and are acid-free/pH neutral and chlorine-free.

Artistico is the only paper that offers a "soft press" sheet, a luxurious texture that falls between hot press and cold press. Papers are luxurious yet durable and can handle lifting and scraping without compromising their integrity.

Papers are synthetically sized both internally and externally so that no animal by-products are used. Suitable for all water media, printmaking, digital printing, charcoal, pastel, and other drawing applications.

Sheets are 22" × 30" (559 mm × 762 mm) with two natural deckled edges and two cut edges.

Great for ink drawing

I use this paper for drawings which are made with pen and ink and paint. I use the 300 hot press and it's great because it doesn't get all warpy when wet. It might bow a little, but nothing that can't be easily fixed by wetting the back or waiting for it to dry and reverse curling it a bit. Also, I can confidently write on the back in ink without worrying that it will bleed through. I like the surface because it's not too slick, just slick enough. It tears nicely also.

This paper is easier to layer watercolors than hot press papers. Painted outlines are sharper with this paper than with cold press paper.

Nice Paper

I am making large scale etchings. It works really well for etching, but you have to soak the paper for 3 hours in water and then leave in a damp pack overnight. It prints well and is sturdy. It is hard to find paper you can print etchings on at this size. It is better than Lenox or Stonehenge, which are possible to print on but not as nice. I had first bought Tiziano (also by Fabriano) which printed well on a small scale, but when I switched to large-scale, the paper got flimsy and ripped a lot. Artistico holds up SO MUCH better.

Fabriano Artistico is the Rolls Royce of watercolor papers. I've experimented with every major brand but I get the best results on Artistico. It handles blends the best and my paints seem extra vibrant on this paper.

I've been using Fabriano Extra White watercolor paper for several years and honestly think it's the best I've ever used, and I've tried most of the major brands including Arches. Also, as an animal lover, I appreciate the fact that Fabriano does not use melted dead animal parts (gelatin) as sizing in its paper like the majority of other brands. My paintings always turn out bright and beautiful on this paper. Easy to lift out mistakes too. Five stars!
