Nice paper for colored pencil
By Felix the Artist
from Ann Arbor MI
Comments about Fabriano Artistico Extra White Watercolor Paper:
This is the best paper I have found for colored pencil work. It seems to have just the right tooth. It is also very nice for watercolor. If anyone has recommendations for other papers to try, I would be interested, but this has been my favorite for years.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

New Favorite Paper
I have used Arches watercolor paper exclusively for almost ten years but I recently decided that I wanted to explore my options. After reading a ton of reviews, I decided to try Fabriano artistico. The reviews I read were so right! The paper has a superior texture, in my opinion. I bought the cold press and soft press papers. The soft press is an exciting surprise and turned out to be something I didn't know I wanted! Compared to Arches- Fabriano paper feels more velvety and elegant. Arches always felt like it had too much sizing/ was too hard. I'm excited about the 200lb paper and I might even try their hotpress paper as well! The watermark is kind of gigantic but I don't have a problem with it- I just thought I'd mention it. I highly recommend this paper and look forward to getting more. Also, I need to mention that since I mixed and matched my paper order a couple of the top sheets came dinged but blick fixed the problem in record time and sent me two replacement sheets that were perfect!#sweepstake
ABSOLUTELY LOVE This Paper
By Mark T
This is my favorite watercolor paper to use for drawing. It has one side with a very nice 'patterned" tooth, which is great for when I draw drapery; and another side that has a random tooth for which I like to use for nearly everything else. I actually discovered this paper about four years ago and bought only a couple of sheets just to see how it performed versus the other HIGHLY recommended papers I was reading about. This paper is just fantastic, in my opinion. The MAIN reason I like this paper over ARCHES is simply because of the watermark. FABRIANO has only ONE side of the paper that contains a watermark, which is just a tad over an inch in size and that makes it great to use as border. ARCHES has TWO very large watermarks on two sides and they are OPPOSITE each other. This factor alone allows FABRIANO to have a greater surface area which one can utilize.
Great Surface for Colored Pencil work
By Becky Eileen
from San Antonio, Tx
As a colored pencil artist, I like the hot press paper. It has a smooth surface with just enough tooth to allow many layers of colored pencil. I typically use the 140# paper, and it holds up well to tons of layering and burnishing.
Great customer service
I love this paper. I use it regularly The first time the product was sent it arrived a bit bent. On contacting customer service, they replaced it quickly and it arrived in perfect condition.

I have been using watercolor papers for decades, and Artistico Fabriano professional grade paper is wonderful. It is very responsive to various techniques standing-up to scrubbing, layering and lifting. Most importantly it maintains the vibrancy of the colors.

Resilient and Smooth for Colored Pencil Drawings
from Pemberton, NJ
I purchased the Extra White Fabriano Artisticico paper for my colored-pencil work. I ordered the hot press for a smoother texture, which is better for this particular medium. This is versus the cold press, which has a deeper tooth/texture bump to the paper. I could have used either one, I suppose, but it's all a matter of the overall texture that I'm trying to achieve in a completed piece. For me personally, the smoother the better, therefore hot press is a better choice here,Fabriano Artitico watercolor paper can take many different kinds of layered graphite, pencil, or marker, but its absolutely fantastic for colored-pencil!It is tough, which means that layering wax-based colored-pencils, graphite, crayon, paint, or marker on top does not result in the final piece tearing, bleeding through, or falling apart.Even when I'm burnishing parts of my hues together, the Fabriano Hard Press Watercolor Paper seems impervious to the force of applying pencil points firmly upon the surface. In water-soluble colored pencils and other wet media, the Fabriano Artistico watercolor paper will dry flat and resist bubbling if mounted correctly to an artboard first. In conclusion, is worth the higher price tag. I have no complaints.
The Fabriano Paper Mill was founded in 1264 and has been credited with many inventions and advancements in the field of paper making. Today, artists can choose from a wide variety of 100% cotton, archival watercolor papers in many different formats and surfaces.
