Part of a unique color-matching system that encompasses all Faber-Castell Art & Graphic Products, Polychromos Colored Pencils contain the highest-quality pigments for unsurpassed lightfastness.

The buttery smooth color laydown offered by Polychromos pencils can be easily blended for layered effects, highlights, and transitions. Their break-resistant, water-resistant, smudgeproof 3.8 mm leads are encased in premium California cedar with Secureall bonding to resist breakage while providing sharp, fine lines and permanent, rich color. Pencils are pre-sharpened.

Every pencil contains a lightfastness (light resistance) rating, as follows: ***very good (100+ years), **good, or *reasonable.

Set of 120, with CD-ROM — Packaged in a metal tin, this set of 120 colors includes a CD-ROM providing simple art instruction.

Wooden Box Pencil Set of 120 — Polychromos pencil sets are a welcome addition to any colored pencil artist's studio. This heirloom-quality handmade wooden case is finished with a rich stain and features durable metal hinges and a metal handle for easy transport. An easy-open metal knob opens the case and locks it with a simple twist. Inside are two tiers of highly pigmented, brilliant Polychromos pencils for easy access to a total of 120 colors, and additional storage for accessories. The box measures 13¾"H × 22¾"W × 13¼"D (35 cm × 58 cm × 34 cm) when fully extended.

I've been using Prismacolor for years and decided to try out the Poloychromos line based upon all the good reviews. They are a great set of pencils. The colors are richer and they blend much better than what I've used in the past. The pencil core seems to be more aligned to center reliably than what I see in other pencils. If I have one complaint it's that the medium flesh color is more of a pepto-bismol pink but I felt the same way about the Prisma flesh color.

I have a very firm love for colored pencil art on paper. I had been using the most popular pencils in the US, but the breakage and wax bloom irritated me to no end. I wanted to check out the oil based pencils as an alternative. I really like the Polychromos smoothness, lightfastness and great color selections. The pencils have a nice feel. I will continue to use wax based pencils also, as I have bought the Blick Studio set and combine them with Derwent Coloursoft pencils, but these will fit nicely into my art.

I use these pencils with the faber-castell pitt pens. The pens highlight and the pencils provide excellent complimentary shading. The red color smudged on my hand, and consequently all over the paper when I was using it. But I have not had that happen with any of the other colors. A light, layered application of the pencils makes for a seamless and smooth image.

for me it worked pretty well, it's a really good color pencil, one of the best, better then Prismacolor, Softcolot and others, I recommend this for everyone that likes drawing and if you still in doubt, check PearlEden's profile in DeviantART, here is the link, she has a guide for color pencils, and this one was the only one that rated five stars, IT'S THE BEST! here is the link for the tutorial: http://pearleden.deviantart.com/art/Art-Materials-Colored-Pencil-106218421, you should buy it, you won't be dispointed!
The blending is pretty good, and the colors too, I think this set whith 24 is the best for berginners, then if you like it, you can buy the 60 or 120 set.
