Welcome to dickblick
These generously sized, 7" × 7" plates are great for more than just traditional rubbings — use them to create unique patterns on fabric, clay, metal foil, paper castings, and more.
Each package contains six unique plates of one style (Curves, Doodles, Floral Fantasy, Kaliedoscope, Leaves, Op Art, and Triangles). Work with one style or mix and layer different ones — you never know where it will lead!

Comments about Richeson Cedar Canyon Rubbing Plates:
I read everything about this product before purchasing, but didn't read anywhere what they were made out of. In the online photo they look rubber, but they're made from a not-very-substantial plastic. Resembles the plastic used to package electronics cords - like hdmi cables and cell phone cords - very ridged. I have used these with polymer clay as I intended, but the patterns also are, as other reviews have pointed out, very open. There's a lot of space between the pattern, the patterns are more open. I'll still use these. I just wish they had stated what they were made of and wish the patterns were more closed.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

These are great for rubbings, but don't try to use with shredded redi paper mache product to make molds. The mache warped when dried on the plates. Still working out how to do this process.
Useful in my artroom.

This is a great tool for having the children experience texture and pattern. Besides using it for crayon rubbings with the young students, it can be useful along the same lines for filling in backgrounds that are too white and empty when older students paint. I have bought them before but bought these additional plates for a class project in making tissue tiles by applying liquid starch over the tissue colors placed strategically over the plates.

great to add texture to clay

I use these to add texture to clay for small bowls and plates. They work great! My only negative is that the plastic can be brittle so use caution when peeling from clay
Great line of products!

I haven't had the opportunity to use these yet but will soon. They are what I expected and I'm very excited to think of a finished project using these.

I use these for clay impressions and they do a really great job if they are coated with spray or powder first. The designs are deep and it is nice that both sides of the plate can be used to give a different look. Because I am using them with a rolling pin I have had some crack after months of use.
