Welcome to dickblick
An ideal surface for students and teachers to practice on, Blick Wonder-Cut Linoleum offers softness and consistency with no slippage.
Wonder-Cut linoleum is easier to cut than our softer Golden-Cut, yet holds sharp lines with no crumbles, for clear, sharp prints.
Pencil-drawn cut lines are easily visible on Wonder-Cut's light color — and a slower hardening process offers the longest shelf life of any Blick linoleum, ideal for classroom settings.
Wonder-Cut has a natural jute unmounted backing and measures ¼" thick.

Comments about Blick Wonder-Cut Linoleum:
I used this in my senior printmaking class and we were EXTREMELY frustrated with the quality of the actual prints. It has this rough cork-like texture that absorbs water-soluable ink and makes ugly, uneven looking prints. Even with a lot of acrylic retarding medium we had great difficulty getting a clean print, and had to over-ink the plates to try and get rid of that texture.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Merchant response: We're sorry to hear that you weren't happy with the quality of prints made with the Wonder-Cut. Please know that our Product Specialists are more than happy to advise you about other products which, through not as economical for classroom use, would offer a smoother surface and crisper lines. Just call 1-800-933-2542 (weekdays 8am - 5:30pm CST) or email email@example.com, and they'll be happy to help you!

Did not perform well
Wonder-cut did not work well for my students. It was no easier to carve than battleship linoleum and it printed poorly. The surface is pitted (not smooth), which doesn't allow for an even inking and a consistent print. I would not recommend this product
Truly Easy to Cut

I bought this by accident. I am a battleship grey kind of gal, and this falls short for fine lines. It is super fun and easy--almost like a fine grained cork. It is not annoyingly soft either, like the slippery white variety. I think this material is best-suited for a high school printmaking class.

was apprehensive at first
from Libertytown, MD
Was mildly apprehensive when I first got this lino, however after a few lines were cut all of that disappeared. Seems to damage and loose small pieces less than the other linoleum available. As an added bonus it is extremely cost effective! Will be using this lino from now on.
Terrible for baren printing
This linoleum has given me the worst printing experience by far of all print matrices I've tried out. I've never had trouble with printing using a baren with any combination of materials I've tried but this lino has just been awful. Prints come out splotchy, have excess grain and require way more pressure to print to 90lb paper than I personally can apply to the page.
Merchant response: We're sorry to hear that this linoleum isn't printing well for you. Although the softer-cutting material has its advantages, the texture of the blocks makes it necessary to ink them rather heavily to get the best print. For a linoleum that's still softer than Battleship Gray but smoother than the Wonder-Cut, we suggest the Blick Golden-Cut Linoleum. This grade of linoleum is great for students. Will give detail and easy to work with.
Love this stuff
I have used small and large pieces of this to make prints. It cuts easily and prints well. The nature of the material does give you some pits when you print but I like that and work that into my design. The only thing I am not a huge fan of is that the smaller pieces do warp a little. The large ones with more weight do not. Great product. I will use more in the future. Actually, I am using it today! Yay for art!

this product is great for teaching block printing. The material is easy to cut and the ink adheres well to it. I had a bandaide free year last year and I work with some younger kids.

The surface texture overpowers the image making ability of this product. Forget sharp, distinct prints. Everything has texture and the carving is crumbly and difficult. For students, the thin gray linoleum works well, it's just too rubbery when it comes to cutting edges. But you can transfer drawings so easily with those. The wonder cut, forget being able to see your drawings. You can barely transfer images onto them and the surface is so textured and dark, it's hard to see a drawing on it. BAD for anyone who actually cares about getting what they want from a linocut.
