We began a watercolor technique board today. I was very disappointed. The colors do not dry to their true vibrancy on this paper, and techniques such as salt, saran wrap, etc... do not show up nearly as well on other papers ( including some cheaper ones).
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Excessive Bleeding Terrible!
I bought a huge amount of this paper for watercolors. Its a total loss for that purpose, I will have to repurpose it for acrylic.

Student watercolor Paper

This paper holds up well for young children with very little bubbling and buckling when used with the wet on wet technique and the 140 lb. weight. I have tried other brands of student grade paper and have had disastrous effects with the surface of the paper getting mucky and lifting off the paper body. One of the main reasons I order from Blick instead of the competition every year is that this student paper is superior.

This 140 lb watercolor paper is perfect for beginning students learning to use the medium. It's very economical and helps stretch a tight budget.

Best Student Grade Watercolor Paper Arou
I have recently started working with watercolor realism and it requires many layers of paint and blending. This paper holds up well, doesn't rip and holds my paint in the way I need it to. I will be purchasing this item again. I'm addicted.

This is one of those "you get what you paid for" cases. Pros: good weight and texture, ok for watercolor with minimal amount of water. Ok for pencil drawing and maybe media other than watercolor.Cons: as soon as you add more water, it becomes blotchy, soaks through very fast, and is completely unsuitable for wet-in-wet application. Definitely could use more sizing.I purchased this paper to try with my basic watercolor class for adults and I was quite disappointed.
