Arches papers aren’t just for watercolors. Use them also for drawing, calligraphy, gouache, printmaking, acrylics, and even digital printing. Manufactured from pure cotton fiber, they are so durable that they will remain beautiful and vibrant for centuries without conservation, if stored and handled properly.

Many artists say they choose Arches because working on an inferior surface just isn’t worth the effort. And no other watercolor paper provides such a huge selection of sizes, surfaces, and formats for creative expression.

This paper is the original Arches, sometimes known as Natural White. The choice of leading watercolorists all over the world, Arches is the product of five centuries of papermaking experience. You can rely on Arches to always be consistent.

Arches watercolor papers are mouldmade in France, with 100% cotton fiber content. They are acid-free, pH-neutral, gelatin-sized, and air-dried. Sheets have two deckle edges, and are watermarked and embossed. The 16" × 20" sheets have four deckle edges. See the Item Specs tab for gsm equivalent weights.

Ordered #300 weight paper and it was much to Light. Sent a complaint but not really resolved. It's too bad that I'm going to have to quit buying paper from Blick's. This is the 2nd time this has happened.

Needed a small pack of 3 of 300 lbs WC Arches paper and only found it in Blick's catalog. Far too expensive at local art supply stores. Good buy!

I tried using the paper today, and found the quality very dissapointing. it is the weight I expected, but it responded to the paint very poorly and the paper crumbled badly as I tried to rework some areas

300lb paper

Why do I use 300 lb. paper? I will tell you. I cut up the sheets to get 9 sheets of 10 by 7 to do my portraits of people in Mexico. Not being an artist I make many mistakes and on 130 lb. paper the paper doesn't like it and falls apart or is ruined. Many years ago I ordered from you 130 lb. and you mistakenly sent 300 lb. This turned out to be a blessing because this paper can take mistakes it is easily corrected.
I have done over a thousand painting mostly in Mexico of people in the streets. I first take pictures and then paint at home and in about a month go back give them out free along with a gospel of John in Spanish.
What is an artist? Take the piano players on TV like the Lawrence Welk program the fellow there I don't think he can hit the wrong not if he tried. Likewise the gal that makes the piano jump off the floor, she doesn't make a mistake. That is an artist.
Well I do at times tell Vincent Van Gogh to move over. HI HI

A few months ago, I stopped bought a basic student quality prang watercolor set. I was pretty excited to begin watercoloring, but after some attempts, I just wasn't satisfied with the dullness of the colors on my fragile sketching paper (haha). I always knew that there was no way that I could expect phenomenal results using improper materials, but I didn't know where to go to buy the suitable materials. Then I found blick, and purchased this paper.

This paper is incredible. It is so sturdy compared to my sketchpad paper, and is just impervious to water eating at it. My basic watercolors stand out on this paper, and it's really made painting a more enjoyable experience.

The 300 lb D'Arches rough watercolor paper that I purchased seemed a lot thinner then other D'Arhes paper that I have used from other sources.... With this paper there was much warpage when wet...somthing that is less common with the 300lb weight D'Arches watercolor paper. Was not pleased with the quality. Also, I order the rough textured paper and the paper I received didn't appear to have that quality either....

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
