Airbrush Colors

Airbrush colors are inks and paints that are designed especially for airbrush performance. However, airbrush artists are not limited to these colors. Any liquid that can be thinned to the consistency of milk can be sprayed through an airbrush, including acrylics, enamels, ceramic glazes, inks, dyes, gouache, and watercolor paint.

If you plan to apply any liquid with an airbrush, have on hand a supply of the correct mediums and solvents for adjusting the liquid to the proper consistency, and for cleaning the airbrush after you are finished.

Airbrush tips wear over time, from the abrasive action of pigments and other suspended solids within the liquid. Some liquids, such as glazes, can be quite abrasive, and these will cause airbrush parts to need replacement sooner. Keep a replacement tip on hand, or dedicate an older, well-worn tip to abrasive liquids.
