Comments about Yasutomo Lacquered Handle Hake Brush:
This is a nice brush. It is not as soft as some hake brushes, but it is soft enough for my purpose. I found the R&F hake brushes for encaustic painting to have rough and splintery handles, and the exposed stitching looks carelessly done, so I tried these with lacquered handles and found them to be more pleasing to the eye and far nicer in the hand. The Yasutomo lacquered handle hake brushes shed a few hairs at first, but that was to be expected with a new brush. My only lament is that I had to find the larger size of this brush elsewhere, and the price was dear, as was the cost of shipping plus tax.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

They are a bit expensive, but probably worth the price. The quality of the brush is high and they are nice to hold and paint with. I use them for encaustic work.
The bristles fall out.
from western Mass
I bought this brush to shellac reproductions of Shaker furniture that I make. It sheds bristles at a rate of about one bristle every square foot or two of surface area. Worse than useless; into the trash can it has gone,
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Merchant response: Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with this brush. Although it's not uncommon for new brushes to lose a few hairs at first, the shedding should not be excessive or prolonged. One of our Customer Care Agents will be following up to further assist you.
