I have always used the Winsor & Newton Series 7 Kolinsky Sable brushes - they keep their shape and hold the paint evenly.
best brushes ever!

I've been using Winsor and Newton Series 7 brushes for over 30 years. I use lacquer paint which is a tricky paint to work with; I've never found a brush that holds up as well as the Series 7 and they last a very long time. Once they're past their prime, I move them over to the kids' crafts table and they continue to serve us well. Love this brush!
The Best Brushes
from Nevada City, CA
Just the best brushes for watercolor, and pretty great for fine detail with oil paint too. Worth the price.
Best of the Best
I've used these wonderful brushes for years as a watercolorist, and at the advice of an oil painter, just discovered that they work really well for fine detail in an oil painting too. I have two #1 brushes now--one for watercolors, one for oils. I'm assuming that the use for oil will be harder on the brush and that I'll have to take care of it carefully so that it will last...

Simply the Best
Winsor & Newton Series 7 brushes are simply the best brushes for watercolor. Pricey, but worth it in the long run if you take care of them. All the other brush brands I've tried just don't compare.
