I'm still learning how to use, different from regular oils
By N. Rose
from Durham, NC
Comments about Winsor & Newton Artisan Water Mixable Oil Colors:
I have found that these water soluble oils get muddy very easily and they don't hold their luster like regular oils. I'm going to try some mediums and see if that helps.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I will always use Winsor & Newton water mixable oil paint t
By Amateur Painter
from Youngstown, OH
I am so happy to find an oil paint that is water mixable. The quality of this paint is excellent. Very user friendly and you are not breathing in the fumes from the regular oil paints that uses turpentine.
Love the paints and the service!
from Austin Texas
I used these paints on a couple of canvases last week and the colors were easy to work with and true to form. Blick's shipping department got these to me very quickly and they were packaged well.
I love these water based oils, it's all I use.
from Southern California
These water based oils are fantastic, but which they had more colors. I love that they clean up with water and soap, great for plein air painting.

Almost like oil color
from Rainsville, al
It doesn't come out of the tube as smooth as I like it. I did buy a Cobra water soluble color and it really comes out smooth and is easy to work with. With a little linseed oil, the Windsor and newton brand is really easy to work with. I have a small home studio space. Not having to worry about chemicals and use just water cleanup is great. They are easy to clean and my palate comes clean every time with water and soap. I use the masters brush cleaner for my brushes and it does great. I am currently using the windsor and newton brushes and linseed oil. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who wants to switch.

Absolutely the BEST way to paint with oil
By Terri H.
from Calgary, Alberta, Canada
These W&N Artisan water-mixable oil paints are SOOOO easy to clean up! I love that they clean up with soap and water, instead of with turpentine or spirits. They're a beautiful, creamy, thick-bodied paint which is perfect for the style of painting I do. They go on like oil paints, because they ARE oil paints. And they stay open (don't dry immediately), which is perfect for the very dry air we have here in Calgary. I haven't tried other brands of water-mixable oils, but I love these. Love, love, love them!

Sooo much easier to clean. Dries more quickly.
I paint for fun, and I started out with ordinary oils. But they were horrible to clean. I scrubbed and scrubbed and could never seem to get my brushes or hands clean. Paintings also took months and months to dry, and on several occasions (after two months of drying) would fall and end up covered in pet hair . . .These water soluble paints work just as well as the ordinary ones, but they're much, much easier to clean when still wet. They also dry more quickly -- in a third or a quarter of the time, I'd say. Which has a couple of downsides and a plethora of upsides. I'm so happy I discovered these. I've now almost completely switched over my colleciton.
Winsor & Newton means quality
By Beer Doctor aka Thomas Rowe

Winsor & Newton has stood the test of time. I know this because I purchased a tube of Winton oil over 30 years ago and it is still good. The water mixable version oils are very good, providing flexibility while patiently layering the surface for additional depth.
Great product. Easy way to order
from Tyler, Texas
Ordering is fantastic way to go. Prices are great compared to other local chain stores plus products are delivered right to your door.
Winsor & Newton Water Mixable Oils contain the same ingredients and perform just like conventional oil colors except that you can use water to clean them up. They are a great choice for artists who have a sensitivty to solvents or who just want the ease of clean-up in the studio or out in the field.
