Winsor & Newton's Artisan Brushes are ideal for use with water-mixable oils or acrylics. Designed especially to achieve the best possible results when used with Winsor & Newton Artisan Water Mixable Oils, these brushes also can be used with other brands of oil and acrylic paints.
The unique blend of high-quality synthetic fibers in the Artisan Brush range is designed to mimic the performance of hog bristle, yet retain its fine point and spring after contact with water, particularly after long painting sessions. This blend of synthetic white bristles offers better performance and greater longevity than hog bristle when used with waterbased or watersoluble paints.
Best of all, these brushes can be cleaned with soap and water when used with Artisan Water Mixable Oil Colors — no solvents required!
Perfectly balanced for comfort and ease of handling, these long-handled brushes feature a nickel-plated ferrule and a silver, lacquered handle.
Brush sizes — The length and width of a brush of a given shape and size may vary by manufacturer as brush sizes are not standardized. Since fine art brushes are handmade, expect some variation even among brushes from within a single brush line.
Shipping Note — Due to manufacturer distribution restrictions, Winsor & Newton products cannot be shipped to addresses outside of North America.

W&N flat bright for use as water color eradicator
Comments about Winsor & Newton Artisan Brushes:
I bought the flat bright on the recommendation of a watercolor teacher to be used as an eraser/eradicator for botanical watercolors. It works very well indeed for fine work since it is flat and thin and has just the right thickness - not too thick. While the handle is long for watercolor, it can be cut down.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Great brushes for water soluble oil paints
from Kailua Kona, HI
I've been using water soluble oils for several years and bought these artisan brushes when I started. Been adding more of these brushes over time. I clean them with a paste brush cleaner and the oldest ones are still like new and responsive to the paint process. Only minor issue is some strong colors, like pthalo blue, do stain the bristles a little but nothing that affects the function.
Don't fight your tools!

I use these brushes for acrylics. They have a great balance, in that they are stiff enough to hold up to impasto painting, and yet soft enough to lay in delicate glazes. I love them!
Love this Brush!

These brush work really well with water soluble oils and acrylics. Compaired to liquitex freestyle brushes the size runs a little small. Overall great product and quality!

Winsor & Newton Artisan Brushes
I use these brushes for big strokes as well as my detailed edging. I can use no other. The bristles are firm enough to get the tight edge with the shorter bristles, and with the longer provide for a gorgeous stroke.
I would by this brand again

Very nice brushes.

I am a beginner oil painter and needed some brushes. I usually start with inexpensive brushes to see if I really want to continue with a new medium, but I have gotten burned with brushes that loose their hair or are not the texture I wanted several times. I have tried many different brands of watercolor and acrylic brushes when using those kinds of paint and didn't want to make more mistakes getting some brushes to use only for oils so I decided to go with a brand name I knew was good. My oil paints are Winsor Newton Artisian brand so I chose the Winsor Newton brushes. This set is great for medium sized areas but a little too big for getting into corners and small spaces. But that may be because I am not a great painter. They wash well, stand up to the paint, are a good texture, and I am very happy with them.
