The best tool for the field
from South bay
I've been using this ruler for going on 40 years. It's used within our department for geological mapping. Students will plot their sample location or their strikes and dips on their maps then off they go. This ruler/protractor being clear and compact has the advantages over other tools of the trades. This price was far different than other vendors saving us a lot of money. I purchase these on a regular basis and will be back. Note that they come in two different divisions so order the one that works best for you.
Useful rulers at a great price
from Austin, TX
Great for doing structural geology in the field and working on maps. Such a good price (and to justify shipping costs), I bought half a dozen.

These are fantastic rulers and getting hard to find so I'm grateful to be able to buy them at Blick!!

the ruler is super thin and flimsy. there was a smudged print at the bottom left end of the ruler. had high hopes for this one bec of the name. :(
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I give this to all of my students.
By College Prep Math Teacher
from Oakland, CA
I teach high school math, including geometry, trigonometry, coordinate geometry (in 2- and 3-dimensions), and vector geometry. Diagrams are extremely important in these area of math, so I encourage my students to draw the most accurate diagrams possible. The challenge of creating a precise diagram is a worthy problem in itself. The 6-inch Wescott C-Thru is priced to buy in bulk, so I give one of these to every student and I encourage them to use the C-Thru ruler every chance they get. The rulers have length measurements in cm and mm, inches and eighth-inches, and angle measurements in degrees. Protractors are often made too big for the scale of a diagram that you'd create for homework. I get very accurate diagrams on a smaller scale with the Westcott's built-in protractor.
Great for geometry class with small drawings. Great price!
Students will abuse this, like all bendable rulers. The price makes it heavensent. I've been using these in class for four years and went to reorder from A-Prime two years ago. Their price almost made me quit teaching. A little work on Google and now Bilck has my business. At this price it's acceptable to go through 40 a year and write it off my taxes. Big difference - same ruler.
Replacing an old lost classic
from Nampa, ID
Use these in teaching my geometry class at a high school, lost my other one. Reason for 4 stars is one of the rulers had the printing on the face slightly of from square, so not perfect, but very close. Otherwise, this thing gets 5 stars.
the angle of things
from Grinnell. Iowa
I use to mark angles and degrees on some of my blueprints -(sketches or drawings) for the projects to be done.Being see threw makes it easier to see where you have been and where you are going with the lines to be drawn. It is a little to thin for me maybe make a thicker version of it would help.
from potsdam, newyork
it is two in one instrument in flexible plastic. good for geometry works. if the length measurements are given in color other then red, it would be great. i had little difficulty reading it,as i can't see well. even though, great math instrument
