These high quality graphite pencils glide smoothly over the paper. They are highly break-resistant and easy to erase. The entire length of the graphite pencil lead is bonded to the wood to help prevent breakage, especially when sharpening.
They're available from Staedtler in finely differentiated degrees from especially soft (8B) to extra hard (6H). Soft leads are best suited to sketching and blending. Harder pencils excel for their ability to hold sharp points, and are used for straight line and detail work.
Pencils are pre-sharpened.

These are great pencils
from Chapel Hill, Tn
These are great pencils at a good price. I am not going to say these pencils are for everyone because every person has a preference; but these are good pencils. I use a lot of different pencils Staedtler Lumograph, Derwent, Lyra, Faber Castell to name a few. I am going to miss the old Staedtler Lumograph 8b with carbon or whatever was in it. It was nice to not have the graphite sheen; but pencils are graphite. These pencils are great for drawing.
Great for my black and whites
Love experimenting with different hardnedd

My favorite drawing pencils
from Kennewick, WA
There is really no substitute for these pencils. The 6B especially is the perfect dark. It's hard enough to sharpen yo a fine point, and soft enough to lay down graphite smoothly. I love them!

Buying the kit is not only a value, but helps you decide which pencil softness is the perfect one!

Pretty much the industry standard

The Staedtler ars lumograph is arguably the best you can get. Now, this will vary from each artists, tombow is good, faber castle, Derwent. But beware. They all have their own formulation when it comes to grades of graphite. A Staedtler 6h is not as dark as a faber castle. So Thursday use proprietary recipes. What unlike about these and why it's all I use is the quality. As the core gets softer it gets thicker. This is fantastic because I sharpen with a razor to a 2" point and then use sandpaper for a needle point and I don't have to worry about the soft core breaking as easy. Also. 7b and up they have their own formulation. That makes the graphite almost as black as charcoal. Just compare the 8b to a faber castell 8b.But by all means stay as far away from the Dick Blick pencils as you can. They are trash Worst pencil I've ever used in my life.
When the product has been 'used' up, which might take awhile
By Don't have one.
I like the 'range' of the hard & softness of the leads in these drawing pencils. It gives me the flexibility I need in pencils. Thank you.I originally bought these for my granddaughter who is in a university arts drawing class.....and decided I also wanted a set as an artist.....so purchased two sets.
Passes tests with flying colors (woops-only shades of black)

Very smooth. Trying these next to my Faber-Castell pencils and they aren't as soft side by side, but feel more smooth.
