Premier Kolinsky sable holds a needle-sharp point every time and resists splitting. These extra large brushes are a superb value for professionals and beginners alike.
Each brush is full bellied for maximum color carrying capacity without reloading, regardless of the type of application. Kolinsky sable increases the color holding ability of these watercolor brushes, enabling artists to create longer, bolder and more continuous strokes and washes.
The Kolinsky sable hair is fitted into a seamless, hand finished, gold-plated ferrule. Perfectly balanced short handles feature a natural finish.

The watercolor brush I use the most
By Kat Black

Comments about Silver Brush Artists' Kolinsky Sable Brushes:
After years of painting watercolors with smaller brushes, I found myself with a workshop supply list suggesting not one but two size 12 sable rounds, As I had never painted with a larger round brush, I looked for a less expensive sable brush in case the size didn't work for me. I have been very pleased with their performance and use them as my first line brush. They hold a lot of paint without dripping, hold a point so long as they are moist, and are easy to control. They are soft and smooth enough to paint over a wash or several layers of color without lifting or smearing.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

These brushes are perfect for my application

I am enjoying the brushes for watercolorimg cards and as I'd heard, they are so good to hold the water and color. I'm no artist per se but do love making cards and using good paints and brushes on them.

Not worth the $
By Watercolor Dan
from Saint Petersburg, FL
After using this brush for a couple of weeks it's left me more frustrated than anything. The point becomes split almost instantly and it began loosing hairs from day 1. In general it behaved like a knockoff brush vs a fine sable.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Silver Brush Artists' Kolinsky Sable Round:
I am new to the Silver Brush line. I have heard rave reviews about them so I decided to give them a try. This brush is very nice. Its holds both water and point very nicely. A good brush to try.

Top of the line for me..

These have become my favorite over a number of more expensive brand-name brushes. I don't know why took me so long to discover them.
kolinsky #7 sable brush
from agawam, ma 01001
general watercolor, i found i was so comfortable with it's performance i used it 90% of the time i was painting. Just loved the size, i found a very old art book that recommended the #7 size. I was very pleased as this was the first time I ordered from BLICK.

I bought the Silver size 16 and size 20 round Kolinsky sable brushes because they were a good price (comparatively), and I thought it couldn't hurt to try them. They load and hold a lot of paint and keep a nice clean point with good spring. The two are pretty close in size, however, and I realized I would have done better with a 14 rather than the 16. As luck (??) would have it, my cat chewed the bristles of my #16, so I just purchased the 14 to replace it, and it's perfect. The Silver Kolinsky is an excellent product for the money. I understand the product is being discontinued, and that is a real shame.
I have this brush in fours sizes (8,10,12,14) and it does hold a ton of water. Unfortunately none of the brushes hold a point well, so the usefulness of the brush is reduced significantly. This brush is basically a pointy mop brush it is not even close to a high end round brush. It doesn't provide the kind of control I need in a good round brush.
