Schmincke Aero Color Professional Airbrush Colors are specially formulated for the airbrush but are also suitable for retouching pens, dip-pens, and brushes. Ready to use, water-resistant, and nearly odorless, they are available in 36 brilliant colors and 12 special effects colors.
Aero Color Professional Colors are rich, vibrant, professional-quality paints that are easy to use, light-resistant, and highly pigmented. Many of the colors are single-pigment shades that guarantee brilliant mixtures and an unlimited variety of shades. They can be used full strength or diluted with water.
These colors are easy to mask and excellent for graphic designs and special airbrush techniques. They dry to a semi-matte, water-resistant finish.
Aero Color Professional adheres particularly well to all types of paper and cardboard as well as traditional non-absorbent surfaces such as film, hard plastics, canvas, and metals that have been prepared properly.
Many popular watercolor techniques can also be realized with Aero Color Professional, including wet-in-wet painting, clear paintbrush lines, and glazing techniques where the colors are diluted with water. When dry, the colors become waterproof, making it possible to achieve interesting combinations with Horadam Aquarell colors.
Watercolor compositions can also be complemented when Aero Color Professional Colors are applied with a steel or reed pen. The application of color straight from the pipette also creates unusual effects.
Aero Color Professional Airbrush Colors become viscous when stored. They liquefy, however, after being shaken briefly.
When required the colors may be diluted with distilled water up to 20% or unlimited with Aero Medium (Art.-No.50 602).
The Aero Metallic shades stand out due to their special brilliance and shininess. They produce unique color effects when combined with bright and effect colors.
These colors produce a mother-of-pearl effect that shimmers discreetly on bright surfaces but gives off a metallic shine on dark backgrounds and when combined with transparent shades. Depending on the angle, there is a gradual color change from the color of the background to the actual Aero Shine shades.
These multi-color effect colors, whose unique effect depends on the structure of the surface on which they are painted, show a fascinating gradation of colors. The colors change when the observer changes the angle from which he is looking at them. The darker the color of the background, the clearer the effect becomes.

Brilliant yet transparent
This really is incredibly pigmented, bright color which is also transparent. Very easy to apply and get an even surface (I used pure color straight out of the bottle). Despite the richness of the hue, it was transparent and showed other colors, pencil marks, etc, through the color. I only bought Primary Yellow to check it out but will be purchasing more soon. Oh, yes, claims to be light fast - so far has survived a week in the window, but a month will be more telling.

Despite intensity of yellow, blends on edge with blue to make green, shows pencil marks below, etc. (Blue is a different product, liquitex ink, which is more opaque)

Amazing stuff. Extremely fine-grained, very densely pigmented. Broad color range. Compatible with Createx bases/reducers. Can be layered without bleeding. Somewhat erasable (though probably not the best choice for erasing techniques). Will go through a 0.15mm nozzle (reducing helps).Schmincke Aero metallics are the only metallics/pearls I have found that I can put through a "normal" airbrush w/o clogging (I have used Iwata KCH and KCS models, with 0.30mm and 0.35mm nozzles respectively, successfully... incidentally, the whole Iwata Kustom line has apparently been discontinued, which is amazingly bad news, and I can't find anything about it on the web!).However, for some reason, Blick does not carry the full line of Schmincke Aero Colors; in particular, Blick does not carry the "Total Cover" opaque product line (as well, all of Schmincke's mediums/additives, their line of refillable markers, some new pearls/metallics, and other/selected "standard" colors are also unavailable). I have inquired with Blick about access to the full product line, and have basically been ignored. I have had to source what Blick does not carry from web-based merchants in Europe (which is problematic since large orders are required to make this economical and any merchant can be back-ordered, and incrementally shipping items as stock becomes available is not practical internationally).
I like this product

These colors work well for me. I like the way they mix and that I can apply them with a brush as well as airbrush.

I bought the opaque white to add hightlights to my artwork. Mostly I use a gellyroll pen or a bit of acrylic paint and a brush, but I wanted something that would work well with my dip pen nibs. I heard about this one thru another artist and decided to give it a try. It works very well with my nibs and clean up is a snap. It does dry quickly, though. So you need to keep that in mind, but otherwise it is very handy to have around. Definetly a keeper for my studio.

Schmincke Aerocolor ROCKS!
Love these colors for how well they spray. Using a Micron CM-SB with a 0.17mm needle/nozzle set-up, paint flows quite well and I seldom have to stop for tip-dry or clearing the nozzle. A single drop goes a long way and it doesn't take long to achieve 100% coverage.Paints set up very quickly, so have to be on the move. If needing to stop for a period of time (adjusting frisket, changing colors, etc) have to clear the cup right away and run cleaner through he brush really well, else it will polymerize and clog the brush. It's a nice paint. Drys with a satin finish, so not the best for photo-realistic illustration. Covers well on canvas. Tends to have a rubbery feel when dry, so not the best with erasing/scratching (Holbein Aeroflash is better for this and dries to a matte finish). All told, though, a nice paint, vibrant colors, and fun to work with!

This paint is excellent for airbrush. It is very vibrant even when reduced down. I usually thin with distiller water or airbrush medium. I can spray it properly reduced with my micron without any problems. Some colors have more tip dry than others but overall much less tip dry than other paints. I also like using this paint for washes and as a under painting to glaze water colors over.Overall ,I really enjoy using this paint for multiple artistic styles and applications. I know the price seams high compared to others but to me it's worth it..
