Unlike conventional oil colors, Paintstik Oil Colors are dry to the touch in 24 hours! They are perfect for sketching out shape, composition, and color without messy palettes or mixing cups.
Colors can be spread or blended with a brush, knife, or Colorless Blender. The colors are completely compatible and can be blended with any oil paints. Use turpentine to thin. Paintstik colors are self-sealing — just peel off the film before each use.
There are no unpleasant odors or fumes, so you can paint virtually anywhere, at any time, and on almost any surface: canvas, paper, wood, plastic, metal, and fabric. Non-toxic and hypo-allergenic. A free color chart is available on request.

Comments about Shiva Artist's Paintstik Oil Colors:
I just bought these to experiment with. At first I found them to be too hard and difficult to use but I decided to give a second try and now I really like using them. I wanted soneting that could be used either in a smooth cost or built up for the typical heavy oil paint look. These do both. I use a dry paper towel to gently pull away the dry tip and pretty much keep out her dry paper towels nearby for my hands of to wipe of the stick after moving from one color area to the other. I normally use water color crayons but it is impossible to get heavy texture from those. Theses are fun and easy to work with and they dry completly in just a couple of days. (Unlike oil paint)
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Love for plain air base coat. Scales down with brushwork.
I have splurged on the more expensive " buttery" brands. But for my style, I prefer the Shivas. Splurged on a full set for a plain air trip about 5 years ago, and they are mostly going strong. Ive replaced my favorite colors, of course. And a few colors have started to crack and create a dry layer down the middle. Still useable, at a 45 degree angle, but a little more messy to deal with as you dig in to cut out the hard part. I'll start keeping them in an airtight container to prolong their life. I added some photos of relatives watching- and a large, direct drawn paintings (may have used my fingers ) and a smaller one with the underpainting was direct drawn, but layers were added and other oils mixed in over time with brushes in the studio. I often scrub my brush right into the end of the paintstick to pick up or mix color.

I use the Shiva Paintstiks to paint silk scarves. The product is incredibly wash fast. Even without curing Paintstiks will adhere to the fabric. I discovered this when one of the scarves accidentally ended up in the regular wash and the paint survived almost intact. I don't recommend this method! Following the instructions for curing and ironing is the true path to success. A great product!
EXCITING NEW ART SUPPLY!

I am eager to try these creamy oil sticks on board. My Grandparents had an old painting on board and I want to paint one as close to theirs as possible! Please wish me luck!
Will be used for quilting and sharing in embroidery work. Was a little confused about the need to "peel" a portion off before use though?
Merchant response: Thank you for reaching out! We're always glad to assist you with any product questions you may have. In the case of oil sticks like the Shiva, the sticks do develop a "skin" over the outside that keeps the interior of the stick from drying through. Just remove that prior to use. If you ever have questions about using a product you purchase from us, we hope you'll feel welcome to reach out to our Product Information Team. Product Specialists are available weekdays from 8am to 5:30pm CST at 1-800-933-2542 or email@example.com, and they're happy to help!
My Go-To Medium

I love using Shiva Paint Sticks on gesso board, canvas board and wood panels. They let me freely draw and develop my concepts with brilliant and rich color. I have also been using them to draw on fabric, with good results. The color range is awesome, and the ease of use is what I really like. They have very rich jewel tone color, and good workability, and generally dry down in a matter of days. Every few weeks I treat myself to a few more different colors - just can't get enough!

Love the Shiva sticks, they have a great creamy texture, smooth and easy to use, love that they are self healing so they don't leave a mess everywhere.
Just what I needed.
from North Carolina
I bought a few of these Paintstiks so I could draw on top of my abstract acrylic paintings. I was not planning on blending them with each other, but I ended up doing so since it created an interesting look and they were so easy to blend. I found them to be messy, but I didn't really mind since it's great to be able to draw with paint almost like a crayon. My only minor complaint is that the minis are so tiny. If I get more, I may stick with the regular-sized Paintstiks.
Excellent value for money
