Comments about Rembrandt Watercolors:
I really needed some good professional artist grade watercolors. I love that there is absolutely no clumping or flaking of color on the paper. I did have to get used to the fact that the color dries much lighter than the cheaper water colors, so I have to use less water if I want more intense color.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I love my box but it's not perfect.
from Bloomington, IN
I bought my 12 pan set at a local Dick Blick Store. I love the box but I'm not crazy about some of the colors. The viridian green, the medium sienna brown and the cool blue are extremely weak. I want to keep this set in my purse for sketching. I took out the removable tray and hot glued magnet strips to the pans so I could move them around when I want to and add a lot more colors to the box. This has worked out great. I bought a few half pans of other brands and put them in with my set. There is a winsor and newton artist grade cool blue I found that is much more vibrant and beautiful than the one that came with the set so I added that to my set along with some other colors. The top section of the travel brush was too loose and would fall off so I stuck a tiny bit of kneaded eraser around it and it stays together now when I use it. It is a natural sable brush with a good point. I thought I would love the Rembrandt watercolors since their oils are wonderful but I do not. I have a larger box of Schminke paints and I like those much better.

I would buy more of this product because the price was very
I use this paint in mixed media painting. The size of the product is great to see if the color is really what I can use and then order it in larger quantities.

great water colors
I tried Rembrandt watercolors for the first time this week. I do like the texture and am veryhappy with them. I am in search of the perfect raw sienna. Some brands are not so pretty, some are very pretty but have a very loose texture and dry out and you can't re-activate them.So I am happy with this so far. It seems to have what I am looking for.

Love the 48 pan set!
I am in the process of switching from tubes to pans, after counting up 38 tubes of totally dried out Winsor & Newton tubes. UGH. First, I tried the Rembrandt 12 color set, which I adored for it's lovely colors, sable brush, and velvet carrying case. After using that set up and refilling some of the pans, I decided to go for the 48 pan set, which also comes with a beautiful brush. The variety of colors is terrific. The only additional colors I would like to have seen included are cobalt green and bismuth yellow. The convenience of having 48 colors ready to go in pans is a great advantage over having 48 tubes to mess with. I sure hope more painters realize the advantage of pans.

Used the watercolors for a portrait project. Colors were awesome, a lot of chroma, bright and vibrant. Will add more tubes to my collection later.

I just took a class from an artist, one of the tops in his field. These paints were on his recommended supply list and I now know why! I love the depth of the color and the beautiful transparency of some of them. They really made my water color painting better. I will certainly be purchasing more colors.

I have been painting portraits in watercolor and this brand gives me very good flesh tones. My wife said that the colors are also more vivid and may I add, more vibrant. The only reason I gave it four stars is because the mixing trays are not that useful.
