Versatile For So Much
You certainly can use these for what they were designed for--blending charcoal or graphite. But you can also:--Blend Neocolor II wax pastels to make them look like acrylic paint.--Blend colors with watercolor pencils, either to smooth the look or to actually mix colors.--Dip the stump in ink or acrylic and use it to hand letter. This is not super controlled, so you won't get the same result as with a crow nib, but it is fun!--Use as a scraffito tool on Gelli Plates.--Use to drag alcohol inks into position, or create patterns.
Way better than using my finger
from Warrenton, VA
I love shading; always have, always will. I've also always been a big fan of drawing with various graphite pencils and a little bit of charcoal for some darker areas, and I've always had to use my fingers to blur around the graphite and the charcoal, which wasn't optimal. But these blending stumps are exponentially better at blurring, blending, and smoothing both pencil and charcoal artwork. The tip of it gets a pretty blackened every now and again, but if rubbing the excess graphite and charcoal off onto another sheet of scrap paper doesn't work, then I use a nice, sharp knife (can be a pocket knife, kitchen knife, exacto knife) to whittle away the dirty layer of the stump. Super glad my friend told me about these, and I'm super glad they were so inexpensive.

These blending sticks do the job and they are reasonably priced comparing to other blending stick brands. My students use them with ease and rather enjoy the medium tipped ones more so than the larger tipped ones.
Well worth the price

Very nice, although it needs to be sharpened often. I will buy again.
