Essential for Planning Your Piece
By Elle the Illustrator
from Tampa, FL
I bought the Lavender Col-Erase to do the initial under-sketching's of my illustrations. They're perfect for planning the lines of a piece before you put them into ink, as you can erase and work out the details of how you want the piece to go. I chose lavender because, with a lighter color, it's easier to erase completely with little residue, yet still dark enough to show up on the page clearly as you ink over top of it. Next time I buy though, I'll be buying in bulk, and also purchasing an extra eraser, as I tend to go through the one on the pencil rather quickly. All-in-all though, it's a fantastic pencil and something I will purchase again and again.

Does not fully erase.
Erasable colored pencils; too good to be true. Nice pencils but they do not do what I bought them for - erase. I tried several types of erasers and papers. There is always noticeable color left behind. They are nice and a good value, if you don't need to erase. I would recommend them for coloring. I agree with the other reviews that they are not as good as the soft core. The colors do not match the soft core pencils.
Great for laying down sketches
from Oakland, CA
I use Col-Erase pencils in Indigo Blue and Scarlet Red for watercolor sketching, and the lead is a good consistency for erasing (if necessary) without smudging, PLUS you can get a very faint line to a very dark line with great control and little pressure. The only other color I've tried and do not recommend is the Non-Photo Blue. For some reason the core is extremely hard; I know the color is very pale, but I shouldn't have to leave heavy grooves in paper just to see it at all.
My favorite pencils

The only con about these, in my experience, is that the erasers aren't the best. This could be combated by using any other eraser that one likes.
Must-Haves for Illustration

I can't imagine using anything else for my rough drawings and even some final pencil work. The colour options makes it easy for me to differentiate each element in a scene, and I can ink on top of the Light Blue lines and remove the pencil marks digitally. As long as these pencils are being made, I will be buying.
Produces nice colors
Would buy again
Pencils sketch smoothly on paper and the erasers are okay, they could be better but other than that this product is great for beginners and sketching.
Lovely Drawing Pencils!
By Mara Medium
If you are an artist who relatively draws "hard" or firmly on the paper, this can be a problem when using regular black/grey graphite pencils. When it comes time to erase, your mistakes may not fully go away! I enjoy using colored pencils, because it trains my hand in drawing lighter and it's easier to erase mistakes even if I do draw a little too hard. With that being said, I enjoyed using this Col-Erase pencils. The pencil color goes on smooth and easily with no drag. My only problem is the VERY soft eraser. If you erase a lot, this eraser will be gone in no time so I do suggest having a separate hand eraser for erasing large areas or frequent erasing. Drawing on watercolor paper is nice with this pencil, but it will definitely wear away at the eraser very quickly.
