My Go-To Varnish Brush
from Alberta, Canada
Comments about Princeton Redline Brushes:
I use the 3 inch oval mottler as my exclusive varnish brush. I varnish with Golden Satin Polymer Varnish and find this brush is fabulous for this purpose. Cleans up beautifully and I have lost no bristles (mind you, varnishing is a fairly gentle application). My only criticism is the flat handle - It doesn't feel great in my hand but for the short burst of use for varnishing - I can forgive this. Plus it has a hole in the handle which is great for hanging the brush for drying and keeping away from my other brushes.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Loses lots of bristles
This brush has lots of snap and feels good in had. Yet, mine kept losing bristles while in use. Very irritating and distracting to remove them instead of working on painting.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Merchant response: We apologize—although some initial shedding is to be expected, it sounds like you may have received a defective brush. One of our Customer Care Agents will be in touch so we can take care of this for you.
Plenty of potential.

I picked up one of these for the larger paintings I've been working on recently. I use it as my sketch brush for underpainting and blocking in large areas of color. The bristles have plenty of snap and distribute paint well. Cleaning the brush was also easy which I enjoy in a large brush. The only drawback was the feel of the handle. It wasn't as substantial as I would have expected for a brush at this price.
my magic brush- love it
