Porcelain is a great surface for mixing paint! These nesting porcelain bowls are so easy to clean, and they stack neatly when you need to store them.
Porcelain is weighty, so these mixing bowls won't slide around while in use. Thanks to their sturdy construction, they will last you for many years.
The small bowl measures 75 mm (just under 3") in diameter, and each bowl is 13 mm (about ½") tall. The large bowl measures 100 mm (just under 4") in diameter, and is about 15 mm tall. Each set comes with one cover lid.

I bought both sizes of these nesting porcelain bowls to use for Chinese brush painting, and I thank Dick Blick company for carrying these sturdy sets. They are exactly as shown in my instruction book!

I love these, and use them UPSIDE DOWN!
from Key West, Florida
I am in the process of making a supply list and realized that I've been using them upside-down for over a year. I do not plan to change my practice! I use a limited palette and these work perfectly. I use the five wells for red, yellow, blue, pre-mixed orange and pre-mixed green; I use the lid for pre-mixed purple.

Very Pleased with Dick Blick Order!
from Lancaster, PA
My art teacher recommended your site to buy small porcelain, nesting (stackable) bowls for mixing watercolors. They arrived much faster than expected, and, have a porcelain lid on top. It's so easy to mix each color, and they never run together. Each color remains liquid for a longer time than when mixing each on a palette. I would recommend this product, AND Dick Blick!
Perfict mixing bowl

I like fact i can cover and stack bowls.
Just what I wanted.
from Madison, WI
I was looking for a way to mix and save some of watercolor washes that I use often, and which I didn't want to be contaminated by other colors the way they can be on a flat palette. These quality glazed porcelain dishes work perfectly, and stack nicely for a organized work table. They are large enough to contain a generous wash, yet the rounded bottom allows the remaining color to collect in the bottom.
Happy Little Accidents
from NW Louisiana
I have trouble with big watercolor palettes cause my colors inevitably run together and become muddy mud. I got the larger stacking palettes and it's really changed up the way my colors look - there is a tangible difference in quality. On a customer service note, when this order arrived initially, one of the palettes was cracked. I called Blick immediately and talked to a lovely guy called Matt. He put me on hold for a second and then told me he would get a new set shipped out to me. Two days later I received my replacement palette with extra packaging. Super fast and friendly response.
Great cups for washes
from Georgetown, TX
I love these. Especially the larger ones for mixing washes.
These make doing color charts so much easier. I can keep the colors separate rather than risk accidental color mixing on the palette. And clean up is easy too!

Love the concept, not so much the execution!
from New York, NY
Bought these in both sizes as I like the way porcelain holds watercolor, not to mention the added benefit of not staining. Love the nesting concept and the fact that the hollowed out bases allow each to be used as a "cover" as well. I bought in both sizes, but am preferring the smaller size. The "fit" isn't great when they are stacked so they tend to wobble and sway a bit... much more pronounced with the larger size. I wish there was some way of "locking" the stack. Nevertheless they are a convenient and space effective alternative to a full porcelain palette.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Great for mixed media
from Mississauga, Ontario Canada
I use these porcelain nesting bowls for ink, gesso, paint, and any mediums especially if a need small portions at one time. This makes their use practical in that I don't have to use large palettes or disposable paper. They clean up quickly. They have a nice weight and store easily.I enjoy using this product and I would recommend them.
