Designed for photographers seeking to enhance their images with a metallic look, Slickrock Metallic Papers transform images, giving them a lifelike, almost 3-D quality.
Reminiscent of the ultra-smooth and slick sandstone surface of the famous bike trail that loops through the desert plains of Moab, Slickrock papers capture the original beauty of an image with a metallic enhancement.
Slickrock Metallic Pearl
This paper captures the original beauty of an image while enhancing it with a slightly metallic pearl look. The microporous paper has a glossy surface with instant dry time. The 12 mil, 260 gsm sheets are acid-free, water-resistant, and compatible with both dye and pigment inks.
Slickrock Metallic Silver
This is an ultra-shiny, true metallic paper with a unique instant-dry coating for vivid image reproduction. The metallic surface of Slickrock Metallic Silver produces images that jump off the paper. Compatible with both dye and pigment inks, this 12 mil, 300 gsm, acid-free paper is ideal for both fine art and everyday image reproduction, and can be handled immediately after printing.

Paper of a different color
from Central Minnesota
Comments about Moab Slickrock Metallic Paper:
While it is possible to overuse this paper, it does have some characteristics that give it some potential applications. I found these two types while searching/surveying different photographic papers to find some that would print a nearly impossible to print image (without a paper feedwheel impression across part or all of the length of the image.). While the Slickrock Silver "Failed" (it displayed the mark, but not for the full length), it lent enough visual interest after cropping off the marked area to warrant it's use with this image. If only more "failures" were this good. The photos just cannot do justice for these uploaded images, they just give a pale rendering. Reflections and dusty space don't help. The "Moonleaf" is actually matted with suede matboard and what dust and smudge you do see is actually on the outside of the glass and reflection. The Slickrock Silver and Slickrock Pearl are not for every image, but they do work well for soft focused images, or some that can use some softening, and give best results with simple compositions, as well as those that are very dense and saturated. Pearl gives more subdued results of the two and the example below the actual printed image is also slightly adjusted for brightness prior to printing as opposed to the same subject on the Slickrock Silver, . It is not for every picture or image, but it does lend itself to giving more visual interest to some otherwise very simple images.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

TECHNOLOGICALLY AND CREATIVELY MIRACULOUS ...
from Staunton, Virginia, U.S.A.
I use this technologically and creatively extraordinary archival paper to create dramatically stagecrafted printed artist's statements for each multimedia piece's collector. These pages are headlined by an ultra hi-res monochromatic digital imaging of the relevant piece, followed by informative text. I needed an archival quality paper that could capture and hold my MacPro>PhotoShop 350DPI>HP LaserJet P1102w ultra hi-res reproduction quality level. Moab Slickrock Metallic Paper is, in my many years of exploration and experience, the ultimate solution for capture/conservation of objective monochromatic images that attract, interest and satisfy the most discerning collectors. Even the most globally complex digital images are beautifully captured with no compromise or loss of detail and tonal balance. In these ways, this astonishing paper reminds me of high-speed emulsion photographic films of years past.

Wanted to see the effect of the the metallic paper. It is great for some pictures and not as effective with others. You have to experiment. Pictures with browns or golds really are effective, other colors not as vibrant. Overall, I really like the look and will continue using it for many of my pictures. Bought it in two sizes, the 8 1/2 x 11 and 5 x 7.

Fun & Great images

This is a very nice paper, a little more "metallic" than some of the pro labs offer. I printed w/an HP pigment printer and like the effect. I did buy 5x7 to experiment and proof, 13x19 for show. That's a must - seems that Moab only offers a profile for the perl metallic on this printer - not the gloss. The perl profile works pretty well, but some occasional fine-tuning is necessary - hence the 5x7 proofing. With the right photo it's almost a 3D effect. I will continue to use this, buy more, and try some of their other surfaces.
