Welcome to dickblick
Based mostly on single pigment colors, this small line of opaque watercolor gouache is a professional's dream. Every color is dense, rich, and highly pigmented. No fillers, opacifiers, or adulterants alter the nature of the colors.
In the 18th and 19th centuries, French artists like Boucher, Watteau, and Chardin often worked in gouache, while the English favored transparent watercolor. Now M. Graham has bridged two cultures with a new line of gouache that is based on the same pigments as its watercolor formulas. The opaque matte finish can stand alone, or be combined with transparent watercolor to create permanent works of art.
In addition to gum arabic, which is used as a binder in all other professional gouaches, M. Graham adds pure natural honey. Honey prevents cracking and increases flow and moistness.
Basic Set of 5
An excellent starter palette, this set contains five 15 ml colors including Azo Yellow, Naphthol Red, Cobalt Blue, Ivory Black, and Titanium White.

Comments about M. Graham Artists' Gouache:
Great gouache. In line with Dchmincke for rewetting capabilities- important for me since I use them in pans since I don't like carrying lg tubes everywhere. I mostly use Schmincke but was missing a green - MG's sap green is a perfect one!

M. Graham Artists' Gouache
I have been using another brand of gouache, but this one is not as thick. It's creamier, and flows on the paper so much better. I can't say enough good things about switching over to this brand of gouache!
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Smooth as butter!
I have been using Schmincke gouache previously but this is super nice quality and in a solid range of traditional colors.
This is good stuff
I use this to mix with my higher-end gouaches, and it works really well. There's no need to buy high-end white paint, but you use a lot of it. I don't buy other M.Graham gouaches because they are too watery and the colors are off, but the white is great.

I love the entire M. Graham paint line and their gouache is no exception, in addition to being a great paint by itself, it also compliments the M. Graham watercolors nicely.

M. Graham gouache
I would give this gouache 4.5 stars. As other reviewers have noted, it has a creamy consistency, mixes well, and the colors pop on the support medium. Reconstitution on the palette with a couple of drops of water is a breeze. Coverage is also very good, allowing for the correction of mistakes. The only drawback is that some colors come out of the tube not mixed well with the medium; this seems to affect the more transparent colors, such as the quinacridone hues. Bottom line, though, it's the best gouache I've ever used. I use this gouache for miniature paintings in the style of Medieval and Renaissance manuscript illuminations. I have used it on pergamenata, Bristol board, hot-pressed watercolor paper, and even card stock. It performs well on all of these.
Bright and beautiful
I am new to watercolor and even newer to gouache. I bought the introductory set to basically just see what gouache was like and I can see why people say they love it. They are creamy and vibrant. Just so lively. I like the texture it gives to the subject.
