It works for me, however I would prefer a thicker consistency.

I absolutely would buy this again.

I used this on a wood panel. I wanted certain areas of my painting to still show the wood patterns. Because this is gesso, it does still have a very very slight white tint to it when applied, however you will still be able to see through it once applied. I didn't have any problems applying this, I used a black sponge brush. Only thing I wasn't sure about was how many coats to apply, the bottle didnt say, so I just did one coat

You can still see the wood in the lighter parts. I have not applied any varnish to this yet, but when I do Im hoping the wood shows up even more. I will post another picture once I finish this piece

Excellent gesso for mixed media techniques
from Ojai Ca
This gesso is a little thinner than Blick or a golden. This makes it spread and mix with other mediums more easily. In some cases you want a thicker, more plasterlike gesso. In my opinion it's great to have both.
I use this to cover pages in my art journal and other substrates. It has a pour spout, which is great. And though it has fluidity to it, it covers really well. Very smooth texture as well.
In a painting class we were taught how to prime our own masonite boards which is much less expensive than buying them pre-primed. Liquitex was suggested but people used other products too. This one was the the winner - it was easy to see why it was spec'd.Using a 2" brush like those used for wall paint, you brush the gesso on in all directions. The secret to getting a smooth surface is to keep going until it is dry. As it dries the brush smooths out the striations and makes it really smooth.

Best price/Best Buy
from Marietta, Ga.
Blicks has the best price I can find for most art materials including Liquitex Gesso. I've tried cheaper gessoes trying to save money, but it has never been worth it. Liquutex gesso is smooth, high quality and with the best coverage. You will save money and have better results with Liquitex every time.
from New York City
used it for decades to prime illustration boards and Masonite panels
