Printfoam is a soft, but dense foam material that easily takes an impression made by a pencil, stick, or other object. The surface is so sensitive that any shape can be pressed into it for printing textures.
It's great for teaching young children the principles of printmaking because there's no need for sharp tools. Use water-based inks and any kind of paper to produce dozens of sharp prints.
Each package contains ready-to-use sheets that are 1/16" thick.
This special value classroom assortment includes 100 sheets of 4" × 6", 60 sheets of 6" × 9", 96 sheets of 9" × 12", and 48 sheets of 12" × 18".

Easy to Use
from Raleigh, NC
Comments about Inovart Printfoam for Block Printing:
I use this foam for my elementary art students. They have an easy time drawing into the foam with pencils to create a design. We use with tempera, printing ink, stamp pads, and markers. The foam is very easy to cut, so students can cut out their design or make fun shapes. We have also made mini "logos" by cutting out a small circle, glue gunning it to a cork, and stamping our prints with it.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Easy intro to printmaking
from Portage, Michigan
These are a great way to introduce young or inexperienced artists to printmaking. The blocks are easy to cut to custom sizes. The pluses: very easy for just about any skill level, great for younger kids or those with physical or developmental challenges because you don't have to use sharp tools. The downsides: blocks absorb a lot of ink on the first few passes with the brayer, they do compress quickly and the print degrades (I'd recommend hand pressing with a baren to extend the usefulness of the plate). Obviously this is not a competitive product for high quality block prints; adjust your expectations and you won't be disappointed at the lower quality plate and prints. Overall a great value and a fast, easy introduction to printmaking.

Using product for special needs population. It is easy and doesn't require many other supplies which makes it great for the students. Thought it should be available in your Blick (Sacramento) store since store has other printing products. Also, I save on shipping if I can purchase on demand!
Will buy it again!

I use this for fine art printmaking, not just for elementary students.
