Holbein Painting Oils were created to play a complementary role in oil painting by enhancing specific qualities of oil paints. Characterized by Holbein as &ldquo;dissolving oils,&rdquo; these painting oils can be used with any professional oil colors.


**Thickened Linseed Oil - 55 ml Bottle**  - Still made by the orthodox method of exposure to the sun for prolonged periods, this oil is very heavy and thick, with a viscosity that improves drying, leveling and protective characteristics. Used with oil mediums, varnishes and glazes, it may be diluted with turpentine or petroleum oils.


**55 ml Bottle**  - Distilled from a variety of the lavender plant family, this fragrant oil is a thinning agent with properties similar to turpentine but has a greater tendency to oxidize or gum and does not evaporate as readily.

Pigments are ground from three to five times as necessary to achieve a universally consistent viscosity. The manufacturing process in each of the preparation, mixing, grinding, adjustment, and filling stages is monitored by reference to optimum quality standards.
