These stumps are made of tightly spiral-wound, soft gray paper. Use them for smoothing and blending large areas of pastel or charcoal.
Stumps are approximately 5" long, depending on the size, with points on both ends. A variety of sizes are available. Each package contains 12 stumps.

Another great shading tool
Stumps are one of the main shading tools and these are wonderful. Tightly packed to withstand rubbing, but loose enough to pick up just the right amount of pigment. I like that they have both ends tapered which makes it less likely that students will undo the rolling.
These work great for blending graphite. I love the variety of sizes. I think it will take me awhile to go through all of them, but will certainly buy more when I need them.
I wish I had seen the classroom pak before I purchased the smaller version. They are perfect.
I would buy this product again and again

#sweepstakes. I use these stumps with my pastel pencils and charcoal drawings. I buy the assorted pack. I use the large ones to blend and smooth large areas, the small ones help me in very tight spaces, and the medium ones I use anywhere in between. These stumps are well made and perform exactly as I expect them to. They are an indispensable tool to me.
It's good for me

I bought Assorted Sizes, Set of 12. there are 12 of them and I like them. they are made of gray paper and are a bit smooth. actually I want them for blending pencils. but I'm not sure if they are good for my use (so I give it 4 stars). by the way I like them.

Blending stumps for any age group

Be sure to tell students you cannot put these in a pencil sharpener. Only use them with one type of pencil (for me that is graphite), as color will embed in the paper, They are easy to clean from graphite with a small piece of lighter grit sand paper.
Love these stumps

I use these with Gamsol and they work great. No fuzzing and they clean up and sharpen beautifully with sandpaper or exacto knives. Much cheaper price than others I have bought which aren't as good.

I will be ordering these blending stumps again!
from Boerne, Texas
I am a Zentangler, and love these paper stumps for shading. I use emery boards to clean and sharpen the stumps, and they take a lovely point that works very well for shading and blending in small areas.
