Welcome to dickblick
Crafted in small batches at slow speeds in a European paper mill, Fluid watercolor papers possess the strength and working integrity of more expensive mouldmade papers.
Glued on the two long edges, the Fluid Easy-Block allows artists to paint right on the block without wetting or stretching the paper. The paper is easily separated by sliding a dull knife or letter opener in the open side under the top sheet when the painting is complete.
Fluid Easy-Blocks contain 15 acid-free, cold or hot press sheets.
140 lb (300 gsm).

Comments about Fluid Easy-Block Watercolor Paper Blocks:
I've always used the Canson 4x6 block but decided to give this one a try. I'm not disappointed. In fact it is as good as the Canson an half the price.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Good Value and unusual sizes
from San Jose
I LOVE the unsusual sizes. Removing sheets from the block is easy. The paper is not Arches--it's a good quality medium grade, however I have been using it lately and it's absorbency is excellent for the quality of paper. I have cut it into smaller squares for practice-four perfect squares for practice and you can use the back if the front doesn't work out. Very much worth exploring, esp for practice. Excellent value-great price

I like the square size. I didn't compare prices with other stores. I just knew Blick could get this product in this size. Very happy.
Favorite Watercolor Paper
from colorado springs, co
Fluid watercolor paper is my absolute favorite. I especially love the hot press paper, which is harder to find. I have found that paint colors are more vibrant on the hot press. The absorbency of the hot press paper also fits my particular painting style better than cold press.

Versatile watercolor paper
By Janelle the student
from Urbana, IL
Fluid watercolor paper is extremely versatile. I use it to print my photos. I have used this paper before but to get it locally is very expensive. Dickblick offers a better value allowing me to get more paper for my money. Being a student the price difference is important. I have used this paper to print photographs with Cyanotype and VanDyke Brown solutions and it stands up to the solution and the washing perfectly. I have tried many different brands with my alternative process photography and many of them fall apart after the repeated washings but not Fluid. I have used both cold press and hot press versions but my favorite is the hot press paper because it's perfectly smooth and I get stunning detail from my images when using it. I would recommend this paper for anyone who is looking for a strong versatile art paper. This is one of the best products out there and it's comparable to some of the more high end expensive papers.

Perfect small size block
from Conshohocken pa
Love the fact that they offer a 4" x 6" block. I think it is the only brand that does. Well glued, easy to remove and take watercolor and ink well.

I'm a watercolor artist who works at Blick Art Materials, and it's safe to say that I've tried MANY different brands of watercolor paper. I have forever loved Arches hot-pressed watercolor blocks the best for it's paper quality. Arches (the company) has recently hiked up their prices and it has become sort of unaffordable to buy in bulk. Recently I've set out to find a comparable paper with a good quality, similar sizes, and a brighter white. After a little while of searching, I've decided Fluid watercolor papers are definitely my new favorite!I work in very small sizes like 6x8 and 7x10, so I was able to find similar sizes in their watercolor blocks. I've been using their 6x8 and 9x12 (that being said, I kind of wish they did make a 7x10, but it's not a big deal). Their blocks aren't like an arches block where it's sealed on all four sides, but I kind of LOVE that it's only tape bound on two sides. It makes it easier to pull sheets off, and the tape is clear, so there's no annoying/ugly black around the edges. Also, I don't paint while my paper is still attached to the block, I always rip it off and work on my table.THE PAPER IS A BEAUTIFUL BRIGHT WHITE, and not a weird off white like Arches. That was one thing I was beginning to be upset about with Arches, because when you scan a piece in, it's always darker than I'd prefer.I wish that they gave us a 300 lb option with their blocks, but I've been finding the 140 lb to be fine. After finishing my watercolor piece I am able to flatten my paper perfectly by simply turning my paper over, wetting the back, and leaving a heavy book on it over night or for a few hours. The final result has always been wonderful. As for the papers archival quality, I find it to be comparable to Arches. Although, I have been using Arches for two years and Fluid for only a couple of months, so I'll keep you updated :)Overall I'm incredibly pleased and it's most definitely worth trying! Especially since they're so affordable!
I like the 8x8 square. the 6 x 12 block I haven't used yet,
The 140 lb cold press FLUID watercolr paper blocks have a nice tooth, and take paint well. Much better than most watercolor blocks. I also like the Arches blocks, but I can't find the 8x8 size any more so I took a chance on this and am now on my third one. I'm glad to have a quality alternative.

Nice paper but...
from Odenton, MD
They are not really "blocks" as they are not sealed on all four sides. Water seepage and bubbling happens very quickly using this "block." Can be useful for test watercolor, but not for works that will be sold or printed.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Quality for Less
from Amelia Island, FL
I have been using this watercolor paper almost exclusively for a number of years and find it to be perfect for experimental mixed media pieces. I also like it better than more expensive brands for my watercolors. I particularly like the 8 x 8 square blocks for quick studies and spontaneous small abstracts.
