The leads in Faber-Castell Graphite Aquarelle Pencils are combined with pigments that dissolve completely when brushed with water. Simply use a wet brush to transform your drawings into washes, or dip the tip of the pencil in water first to create rich, soft, smooth lines.
Available in a variety of hardness grades, these artist-quality pencils are ideal for classic watercolor painting, or to create draft sketches for works in acrylics, oils, or mixed media.
The leads are bonded for increased break-resistance, and the barrels are varnished with an environmentally safe waterbased coating.

One of the easiest water soluable mediums I've ever used
from Cleveland Ohio
Comments about Faber-Castell Graphite Aquarelle Pencils:
I have used this product in mixed media work as well as stand alone. The Graphite once used in its water soluable aspect does not move, budge or smear. It made my mixed media work stand out more than I imagined it would and I will definitely be purchasing more of this set. Well worth the price and a lot of fun to work with.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Faber-Castell Graphite Aquarelle Pencil Opinion.
from In the West
I used these on cold press paper first and thought at first that this isn't going to work the way I want it to, thought I should have used hot press but I was wrong. They were absolutely lovely and they are fabulous on either paper. Great price too and I love the brush that comes with them.

First pic done with these awesome pencils.
I love using them with regular graphite pencils. It is so easy to shade and color drawings with these pencils.
Really nice pencils
from Springfield, IL
I bought these to test them out -- i had not used graphite watercolor pencils before -- and am very pleased with them. They go on smoothly and i really like how i can break down any line completely with a brush -- something i can't always do with some colored watercolor pencils. The pencils also work wonderfully directly on dampened watercolor paper and then gone over with the brush to even it all out. Look forward to getting another set as i am sure i will use these often.

I love being able to fill in a smaller set with colors that I want the most without having to step up to a bigger set I don't really want

"Paint" your pencil drawing darker, richer & more durable...
from Port Townsend WA
Draw and enjoy as with other pencils, but then use the very nice brush included with your set to "paint" over your work with water. Watch the drawing become immediately richer & darker, and less vulnerable to smudging. Be aware that these do not erase quite as easily as standard graphite, and of course you will want to use papers that can take a little water!
Great for quick value studies
from San Francisco
Five different grades of water-soluble graphite pencils comes in this set, along with a very nice #6 round watercolor brush. True to their description, the pencils, when activated by a wet brush, turn into a graphite wash. There actually is noticeable variation in the darkness of the 5 when activated. Great for quick on-the-spot drawings with a water-brush, or in the studio for more finished renderings. Also works as a regular graphite pencil. My only wish (and this applies to all the other pencil makers) is that the hardness grade be marked on all sides of the pencil, and in legible form. These pencils are marked on 2 sides, which is a start.Fun to work with.
