Comments about Derwent Burnisher and Blender Set:
I tried these after reading about them on one of my blogs. To me, they are scratchy and harsh. They do burnish but don't work that well with the Polychromos which are oil based vs. wax based. I think I'll gift these to an art friend.....
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

derwent burnisher and blender set
I HAD NEVER USED THESE PENCILS BEFORE BUT THEY WERE SUGGESTED TO ME SINCE I DO ALOT OF COLORING. BOY WAS I REALLY MISSING OUT. I LOVE THESE PENCILS. THEY HELPED ME TO BLEND COLORS TOOGETHER AND TO SHADE PICTURES TO GIVE ADDED DEPTH WITH A LOT LESS WORK THAN I WAS DOING. I WILL NOW NEVER LET MYSELF RYN OUT OF THESE.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

burnisher and blender are scratchy pencils
I'll stick with the Lyra polycolor blender. The Derwent blender and burnisher are very hard and scratchy. For me the polycolor works better and is a softer pencil.
Merchant response: Thank you for your review! The fine, subtly abrasive quality of this blender should make it easier to layer additional color after blending and before the final burnishing step. The Derwent Burnisher and Blender Set
By Psycho Freak

I really like Derwent products, and I have been using them for years. I recently purchased this product, and I use it most every day. Until I bought it, I used blending stumps and tortilions to do my blending, but when I got this set the blending pencil made it so much easier to do so. The burnishing pencil really adds a nice glossy finish to my colored work that I never knew I was able to do before. I would more than recommend this product to anyone who is considering adding some drawing supplies to their collection. I feel Derwent art products are of the highest quality and will help anyone produce fine work who uses them.

The blender is rather soft but it does work. I have not used to a lot, but it is useful in blending the dry Coloursoft pencils without burnishing them. The burnisher is a good tool-at first i was not too sure, as I usually use a hard white pencil with similar results, and the burnisher does leave a waxy shiny surfuace which is good-unless you want to put a smidgen more color on. After much use i decided it is a good tool and often gives better results than the hard pencil i used to use.For the price I would recommend getting the set. There are two each of the blender and burnisher, a sharpener and actually quite a good little eraser in the package. Even if you don`t use them constantly, you will find they come in very handy. I burnished the fish below especially the head and I think the results were good.

Sturdy build and excelent perfomance.
from Santiago, Chile.
Well, i'm a 17 year old beginner artist, and i'm testing different media to express or create the images that are on my mind :D. In order to test the performance of derwent pencils, i bought this set...What can i say? The blender is amazing, incredibly usefull tool, that's very sturdy in it's build, it has a dry texture that's more usefull than the prismacolor one...The burnisher works really well, your work will shine after you use it and works with every brand of pencils :DSo, if you want a quality burnisher and blender, that's reliable, solid in it's build, and elegent overall, you'll get this product. Trust me, they are worth every dollar invested :D
