Welcome to dickblick
FW Artists Ink is an acrylic-based, pigmented, water-resistant ink in a range of 38 colors, all of which have either a three-star or four-star rating for permanence.
Such a high degree of lightfastness over such a range of fully intermixable colors makes them ideal for use by artists in the production of pictures for permanent display. (Note – Fluorescent colors are not lightfast.)
Colors can be substantially diluted to achieve the most subtle of tones, very similar in character to watercolor. Such washes will dry to a water-resistant film and successive layers of color can be laid over them in a highly predicable manner.
FW Artists Inks work well with airbrushes, dip pens, technical pens, and brushes. Select colors are available in both 1 oz and 6 oz sizes. The dropper from the 1 oz size also fits the tops of the 6 oz bottles.
Neon Colors, Set of 6
This set of six 1 oz (30 ml) bottles contains every fluorescent color in the line, including Fluorescent Red, Fluorescent Yellow, Fluorescent Green, Fluorescent Blue, Fluorescent Orange, and Fluorescent Pink. (Note – Fluorescent colors are not lightfast.)
Primary Colors Set
This set of six 1 oz (30 ml) bottles contains Lemon Yellow, Process Magenta, Process Cyan, Sepia, Emerald Green, and Scarlet.
Shimmering Colors Set
This set of six 1 oz (30 ml) bottles contains Shimmering Blue, Shimmering Red, Shimmering Green, Shimmering Gold, Velvet Violet, and Black (India).

By As far as I know, I don't have one.
from Albuquerque, NM
Usually, I utilize these inks with a very fine tip, for cross hatching shadows of my drawings. I like the flow and how the line retains its color over time. I depend on the inks being consistent from when I open the bottle to the end.

Alarmed and feel cheated!!! - PART 1
By Craig Poling Junior
from DFW, Texas
I had such high hopes for this ink since it was acrylic based, but after trying it out I feel alarmed and cheated to how this ink is. I tested the ink to see how well I would be perform compared to two other inks I have for my Comic and Mangaka Inkings. I applied the ink and let it dry. I found that the ink was water-soluble, even after drying! However I tried Rubbing Alcohol, it's withstood that! THIS DOESN'T MAKE SENSE!!! How can an acrylic based medium smear with water after it's dry?!I'll try this test again after I let the ink sit longer to dry better, but right now i feel cheated. I'll update this review after I try it again.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Merchant response: Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with this ink. Acrylic-based materials need additional curing time after moisture evaporates for the particles to bond and form a water-resistant film. We encourage you to give the ink more time. If you continue to have less than satisfactory results, we hope you'll feel welcome to reach out to our Product Information Team. Product Specialists are available weekdays from 8am to 5:30pm CST at 1-800-933-2542 or firstname.lastname@example.org, and they're happy to troubleshoot!

Good choice for fabric painting
By Art Quilter
I use these inks on fabrics that I then quilt. The inks mix well together to achieve amazing colors (try mixing any of the several blues with any of the orange-yellow analogs, for example, to get greens you cannot imagine). You can mix the inks with water to make watercolor-type paintings. Mixing with aloe vera gel gives the ink body, making it as workable as tube paints, while retaining the ink's transparency. I also use the other acrylic ink colors from different makers (the transparent umbers and siennas made by Liquitex, for example, and the flesh tone provided by Magic Color), and find all mix well with these inks. The finished artwork can be heat set with an iron, or simply left to dry for several days. In time, usually instantly, the colors are permanent. Several years ago, when I first began using these inks, I did several test strips, just to compare--mixing with aloe vera gel, with water, heat-setting, air-drying, exposure to light in my studio, etc. And years later, the test strips show NO DIFFERENCE between treatments. Acrylic inks are permanent. For easy reference, I have made a color chart using the inks from full to watered-down concentration--sadly, their formulas change--today's Red Earth differs from that of 2014.The small bottles with rubber bulb droppers aren't very satisfactory in my humid, salty climate. The rubber degrades. I prefer using a pipette (medical supply store online has these) to extract the ink in drops (a little goes a long, long way). I mix the inks on disposable clear plastic lids (think food products), or those small portion dispensers they serve salsa in at a Mexican restaurant. To wash brushes, palettes, etc., Grandma's Lye Soap is best for cleaning. One thing to remember is that the inks, like watercolors, dry lighter. You can get watercolor effects with this product. That also means that once the ink is completely dry, you can overpaint a light wash to shift the color if you're unhappy with the original hue.
Great color and price! Love them.

I love these inks! #sweepstakes

I've been looking for a paint/ ink that would push and pull with different colors and not get muddy, and let me tell you these are perfect. I love how they gradually blend and sit against eachother. The colors are so vibrant and its amazing to watch them spread with a bit of water. #sweepstakes
I continue to use the FW inks often .
from Red Lake Falls, MN
I do a lot of mixed media paintings and especially abstracts. I find FW inks are true to color and have a good choice of colors to choose from. I especially like the sunset-sunrise colors and the pearlessent colors.
Daler Rowney makes beautiful intensely colored and shimmery pearlescent inks using a wide assortment of pigments and resins.
