Welcome to dickblick
Cryla Artists' Acrylic paints were first introduced by Rowney & Company in 1963 and pioneered the use of artists' acrylics in Europe. The Cryla line has since been revamped to use the very purest pigments available and offer a full palette of vibrant contemporary colors as well as historic colors.
The Cryla Artists' Acrylics range includes colors used by the Old Masters, specific primary shades, and contemporary colors containing modern pigments. A very heavy-bodied color with a high load of permanent, lightfast pigments, and a uniform eggshell finish across all the colors in the range, Cryla's unique, buttery feel allows the paint to hold brushstrokes and palette knife impressions. It is ideal for creating impasto effects.
Cryla is waterbased and can be thinned with water if a flowing or thinner consistency is desired, and mixed with many mediums to create a wide range of effects.
A high-quality acrylic co-polymer is used in Cryla's manufacture, preventing any shift in color from wet to dry. The final film is permanent, lightfast, water-resistant, and very flexible, withstanding the natural flexing of canvas and wood panels.
Brushes should be cleaned with soap and water immediately after use, as Cryla cannot be rewetted after it dries.

I am surprised by how much I like these acrylic paints. The colors are deep and true. The coverage is good and they blend well.

Awesome for certain things.
from California, USA
I purchased this paint (about 10 tubes, basic colors) to attempt to find a paint with no color shift, as advertised. Yes, this paint DOES have color shift, but it is the most minimal amount of color shift I have seen comparing & testing 2 other artist-level paints (including one that also claims to have "no" color shift). So it does have the best, minimal color shift...probably because this stuff is so dang thick and high pigment level! Here's my breakdown:PROS:- best/minimal color shift I have seen/tested- super awesome for bold opaque, drybrush strokes (so thick, opaque, & high-pigment)- great for impasto techniques (extremely thick / heavy-body)- most similar to oils with the extreme heavy-bodyCONS:- can be difficult to mix with other colors- can be difficult to dilute with water, smoothly- faulty caps can easily break off, which is ridiculous- more difficult to clean off of things- when this stuff is on your canvas, it is extremely difficult to wipe off to remove an error, even if you just put it down. its thick, high pigment, and potent...be careful!- sometimes globs of binding agent do come out of the tube, since it has apparently separated from the pigment o__O;- the price is not actually as good as people seem to think. its basically right around the same price as competitors (ever-so-SLIGHTLY cheaper). Do your own test and pick out a variety of 12 paints or so (vary the pigment-cost-level), and then compare the total $$/oz!!Overall, this paint was not my ideal new go-to paint, which I was hoping for. However, despite its flaws, I actually do *ALWAYS* have a variety of tubes of basic colors of these around which I use for extremely opaque, bold, dry-brush strokes. For that type of brushstroke, and impasto techniques, NO ACRYLIC BEATS THIS ONE!! I re-stock the colors so I always have at least 1 on hand. I run out of the cad yellow the most, because its honestly the most opaque and bold yellow I have ever used. Anyway, try these out, and use them for what they are good for!

A great buy, for a great price. It is cheaper than the other leading brands, and you get 15ml more, than the normal 60ml. The paint is very thick like oil paints, and it its pigment is very intense. They claim that their paint has no value shift, from wet-to-dry, it still has, but it gets the value much more closer, than Winsor and Newton. And last, the tube opening is much bigger, some may not like that, but for me, that is a plus, because I squeeze alot of paint on my palette.

Tube issues and shipping costs
from Manigtagan, Mb
There are two reasons why I didn't rate this best, fantastic etc. 1. The tube the paint comes in, breaks at the lid. The paint hardens and the next time you go to use the paint, the lip on the lid breaks. I don't find this an issue with any other paint brands. 2. Please advise if I can by this paint in Canada. The shipping costs from Dick Blick is more than the actual cost of the paint! Crazy!!

Not what I hoped for
from Athens, OH
I had used these paints, a tube or two and liked how thick they are, so I decided to buy all my basic colors and paint a whole painting with them. The thickness might be okay if you paint impasto or do knife painting but for my style of painting they were too thick. I also had trouble mixing colors and the colors were very dull after they dried. I use a sta-wet palette and they dry out on the palette in one day. I can usually use my paint for several days. The waste because of them drying out means that the price isn't any better than other brands. You also get globs of binder out of the tube because the pigment and binder have separated. With all the other acrylics I have tried, you have a minute or so to wipe off a stroke if you don't like it, but with these you can't get it all off. I suppose that is because they are so thick that they have alot less moisture in them. The painting I was doing with them was ready for the trash so I decided to go over it with another brand of paint just to see what would happen and it is beautiful. Too bad it was already ruined because I had gone over it several times trying to get brighter colors and good blends.I have been trying different brands of acrylic hoping to come up with favorite than I can stick with. I believe you have to use all one brand for a painting to really see if you like the paint. If you mix different brands you don't get a good feel for the paint. I have tried Liquitex, Golden, Lukas, Utrecht and Cryla. I have a favorite so far which might be suprising (Cryla isn't it!) but I still have one more to try. Can't wait for the results.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

The paint is great!!! The consistency is much similar to oil, but fast drying. The only thing that needs fast improvement are the caps they break easily.

I LOVE THESE
By Acrylic lover
from North Bend, OR
These are wonderful paints. The pigments are classics (cobalt, cerulean, cadmium, bismuth, chromium)and not "hues" yet priced like hues! Thick, smooth and buttery they act like oils. The caps come off easily (not ripping your fingers like W&N Galeria). I don't know how D&R do it, but they have made me a believer. Try them!

The Cryla Acrylic paints I bought are an excellent value for money. I'm still getting used to the consistency and colors but I think they'll do just fine.
