Welcome to dickblick
Da Vinci Maestro 2 Hog Bristle brushes are meticulously crafted with extra strong yet elastic double-boiled bristles to offer more spring and longer life.
Hand-shaped, interlocking bristles provide excellent color-carrying ability. Stiffer, fatter hairs have been removed to ensure better flags at the tip.
The durable, seamless, nickel-plated, brass ferules hold the bristles securely without rusting.
Bright and Flat — A Bright is a short flat brush that absorbs less color and has a stiffer stroke. A Flat is longer than a Bright and is consequently more flexible at the tip.
Brush sizes — The length and width of a brush of a given shape and size may vary by manufacturer as brush sizes are not standardized. Since fine art brushes are handmade, expect some variation even among brushes from within a single brush line.

This is the best brush that I have for straight lines in oil paints.
looking for best brushes
from San Francisco, CA
I have been looking for a good brush for a while. I have tries several brands offered here. The Da Vinci line is good, but the bristles still loose their shape too soon. I am very careful with cleaning etc, but am still on the search for a favorite line, especially for small size brights.

I use in my oil painting.I like the bristle but the angle is not good for tight places.I am glad I have it in my a collection of brushes. It was a little over priced
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
My favorite brushes are the Hog Bristle brushes.
I use acrylic paints and I find this type of brush the best for my type of painting. I have hog bristle brushes in different sizes and shapes. I have tried other types of brushes but they were not to my liking. If you keep them clean they last for a long time.I have nothing negative to say.
Will buy agian.

the smaller sizes can become ragged quite quickly but they are my preferred brush
They do not keep their shape
from Tampa, FL
I bought these brushes alongside some Blick Masterstroke's to begin my foray into oil painting. I am very conscientious about cleaning my brushes and using a brush cleaner/conditioner to keep their shape. I never leave them in any solvent and I clean them after every painting session. However, these brushes don't keep their shape. They lose hairs and don't keep their shape. I am really disappointed since these are rather pricey.

Great Bristle brushes!

I got number 8, 6, 4 and 3 of these DaVinci Maestro hog bristle brushes. I have used them for a few paintings and they are holding up really well. They don't frizz out except for 1 or 2 hairs on the number 3 brush. They hold the paint well, clean well and perform well. They stand up to scrubbing and power-dabbing as well as strong swishing on the canvas. They clean up well. The number 8's white bristles were stained after I used some Thalo Blue but cleaning it with Master Brush cleaner took that off. I can see these will be my "go-to" bristle brushes from now on. Thanks also to the customer service professional who helped me select them.

what had been my favourite brush maker seems to be cutting corners. compared to some old brushes of the same size I still have, the new ones have thiner ferrules and thus less density of hairs. Handling is poor now, definitely not the same brush anymore.
