Great Watercolor pencils for pros and beginners!
By Victoria Armour Hollins
Bruynzeel pencils are highly pigmented, bold and smooth colors. I use them on hot press watercolor or illustration board and they perform perfectly. That way, I can use the colors for washes and fine details. They have a very consistent and gliding type of feel to them as they move across a surface, and work wonderfully for layering washes AFTER the paper has dried completely. They also come in An impressive box set with foam lined drawers that slide in and out. If you get multiple Bruynzeel sets then you can stack them up, which saves desk space and keeps them organized. They are also very lightweight, because the leads are encased in cedar wood. Despite the pencils being thin, I've never had problems sharpening them, or the lead breaking inside the pencil. Which means you waste less pencil in the sharpener and have more to use for art. My favorite thing about them is how they react with water, and evenly spread the pigments where you want them. In some brands of watercolor pencils, it is usually different depending on what color you choose, that is not the case for the Bruynzeel aqua pencils. Perfect for professional artists, but also a great beginning set for students or artists just starting out. All around a high quality pencil and great company.

Smooth and Vibrant
from Chambersburg, PA
Lovely pencils, and they were a steal! Nice grey colors are hard to come by, not to mention in watercolor! They always seem to be too murky, too light, or combined with a strange color that's "almost" grey. These pencils are very nice however. Thier colors are pure when wet, and don't seperate into "components" of colors like for say, a black color would. I'm really impressed!

Great set for beginners.

I started a watercolor pencil class. These pencils are great. I love that they come in a box with four drawers. This makes them extremely portable. You don't have to worry about them spilling all over the place in your bag. This is very helpful. I had this happen with another set. It's a royal pain having to put them all back in their proper place. The quality is good, too. I did rearrange the colors a bit-a few of them were placed in awkward places. But after this slight adjustment I was good to go.
i love these pencils but the box they came in kind of suck

I really love these pencils, they are really my new favorite go to, I use to be a huge fan of prisma color pencils but I must admit I am really enjoy this brand it has a different tooth to it that I really enjoy, truly the only issue that I had was the box that they came in, the box itself was okay it was just extremely difficult to open and shut it did not open smoothly in fact it was a struggle each and every time so much so that I had to disregard the box and put the pencils in another container, which is pathetic because the box was quite a nice quality, just to difficult to open and close, I think when it comes down to colored pencils everyone has there own preference. the pencils were hefty and the colors were not super vibrant but held their own..

Bruynzeel Aquarel Watercolor pencils
from stuttgart ark usa
Its a good price for the watercolor pencils, but they aren't the best quality out there. They are a bit hard and brittle. The colors don't Come Off as easily as the other brands. Probably why they are being discontinued. But they DO have some striking colors you can't get with other brands..........

Firstly, I love this store and have never had a bad experience with them. I especially find the creative staff at you Kendall store extremely helpfu. During thi horrific Boston winter I ordered some supplies and received them fairly and surprisingly promptly! What.a boon to my snowbound existence. I love the look of the different shaped canvasses and though I have not yet put water to the pencils, they draw like buttr!
Just what I ordered
These are the best watercolor pencils I have found. They are high quality; they were just as described on the website. I will order more from this site.
I bought these to use for washes in my various mixed media. They are the first set, billed as 'professional' quality, that I've used and for the price, they are very nice. I had planned to buy another brand until I saw these which let me buy more for the same money. They come in a box with 4 drawers which is great for storage but when using, each drawer must be pulled out nearly the entire way to get a them and it can topple over if you aren't careful. The only other thing is that some pencils seem quite similar in color particularly in the yellow and greens but still a good value when you don't need to paint large areas. I still prefer pans/tubes for large washes.
