I'LL NEVER USE THIS ONE AGAIN

Comments about Blue Label Workable Fixatif:
I've always used Krylon and only attempted to substitute "Blue Label" when it my local store was out of the usual preferred brand ... what a mistake that was ... nearly ruined a huge important drawing believing that acouple of good coats of this product would easily do the same as Krylon has always done without issues. I'm taking the other two unused cans back to my store and request they order up some good old Krylon ha ha ! !
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Merchant response: Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with this fixative. We're sorry to hear about the near ruination of the piece you'd completed. All fixatives vary in formula and will have a unique effect on value and sheen. With any fixative or varnish, we advise testing on a sample of your chosen substrate and media to familiarize yourself with the product and avoid unexpected or unsatisfactory results. Please keep in mind that if you believe the product to have been defective, we'll make it right — the store staff will be happy to take care of you!

Excellent non-darkening spray for pastels and other art.
By Bill Hansen
from Ithaca NY USA
This is an excellent non-darkening spray for pastels. I have not used it for other art forms (photography, in my case). But it does an excellent job of stabilizing pastel pigment on the paper, and it does not darken the work at all. It dries quickly too. Its only disadvantage is that it's toxic to breathe in, so praecutions are essential - use it outdoors or in a well-ventilated space, don't breathe it in, and if possible, wear a HEPA filter mask.

Back to charcoal drawing and loving it!
By R. Gleason
from Western Springs, Il
This review is for the whole assortment of charcoal drawing materials I ordered recently. I haven't used the medium in a very long time and was greatly reassured by the high quality of the various forms of charcoal, drawing aids and Fixatif. The well-packaged materials arrived promptly and I shall certainly renew my stock with future orders. R. Gleason

Simply the best
This is the best and only dry media fixative I will use! Whether it's pastels, charcoal or graphite or powders, everything dries quickly with no value change and no rub-off. I get past the smell by spraying outdoors or near an open window. The aerosol mist is very fine and even. I've gone through many cans of this stuff and never had a leak or clog. I highly recommend Blue Label fixative!

Nice, reliable paper
from Helena, MT
I've been using this paper for pastels. It is sturdy and can take a lot of erasing without shredding. It has fairly deep texture which can be difficult to work with using harder pastels.

Darkens the values
I tried it on a soft pastel painting and the values darkened quite a bit even after one layer. I guess I'll be using it in the beginning of the painting but nowhere near the top layers. The good - it does not smell as bad as Krylon fixative. This one smells mostly of acetone and it's bearable.
