Welcome to dickblick
It's the original soft printmaking material! E-Z-Cut is a block of synthetic rubber-like material that is so easy to carve that even young students can create printing blocks safely. Use our E-Z-Cut handle and Speedball linoleum cutters for pen-like control. It won't slip and slide on the table.
E-Z-Cut is 3/8" thick — thick enough that both sides can be carved if desired. Each package contains two blocks. The 4" × 5-5/8" (9 cm × 14 cm) size is perfect for greeting cards and note cards. Try cutting even smaller squares for rubber stamping! We recommend Dick Blick's water-based printing inks.
Handle printing blocks with care, because E-Z-Cut blocks can break easily if cut too deeply or if accidentally folded. Please note you must use a sharp blade at all times for best results.

Better than linoleum-no bandaids needed.

Comments about Blick E-Z-Cut Printing Blocks:
Students have success the first time they cut and print these blocks. Soft as butter, two sided, a great value-who could ask for more? Oh, and they take ink perfectly. I used these to teach an arts council workshop to adults on the art of Hawaiian Kapa printing and the results were fantastic. Welcome to 21st century printmaking.

This is too soft. Could not get clean edges for clear printing lines.

If you're looking for something a little softer than linoleum, this block is perfect. It carves super easily and is super awesome.

E - Z cut blocks are easy to cut, however...

I ordered these printing blocks to do printmaking with 3rd to 6th grade students. The blocks do carve easily, and the transfer of the children's drawings was fairly clear. However, several of the blocks cracked and split when they were not held carefully. I cautioned the students about this problem, but still had two more blocks split. The material seems to not be as strong as it used to be, for I have ordered thse blocks before.
Merchant response: Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback on these blocks. It's true that they can split if folded or carved too deeply — this is the nature of the carving material and not a change to the product. The thickness of these blocks allows them to be carved on both sides and makes them a good value, but it sounds like you might prefer a material with a higher tear strength, such as our Blick Readycut print blocks. If we can be of further assistance in helping you select block printing materials, we hope you'll let us help. Just call 1-800-933-2542 (8am-5:30pm CST M-F) or email firstname.lastname@example.org.

This material is flexible, can be cut to your own size needs, can be carved on both sides & accepts transferred designs well.I use in to imprint stoneware clay slabs.

much more substantial than I had expected. and quick delivery.
Easy to use
Clean and easy carving media. Holds details fairly well for a soft block. Thick enough to carve both sides of the block.

These are super easy for kids to carve. Durable as soon as kids know not to bend them. If a child carves too deeply, the block can crack in half so need to teach them about the carving depth. Great deal!
Love this stuff!

I use this to make simple stamps in my middle school printmaking exploratory class. I cut the large slab into 1 1/2 inch squares and use xacto blades to score the outlines of their designs drawn on the blocks and EZ cutters to carve them out. Can't do little details, but enough to get some great stamps, one on each side.
