These high-quality stretcher bars are more than just a piece of wood!

Their rounded back edge reduces surface friction and is designed to keep the canvas ½" from the stretcher bar. This feature helps prevent ghost impressions on the canvas.

Best Medium-Duty Stretcher Bars are made from kiln-dried, knot-free, straight pine. Each strip measures 1¼" high × 1½" deep.

Note — Price is per strip, not per pair. These stretchers are only for use with each other and Best Medium-Duty Cross Braces. They will not interlock with other brands.

I have used three different brands of stretcher bars, and these are absolutely the Best! The last canvases I stretched on a competitor's bars were made of too-soft wood, and the tabs that fit together at the corners were so soft they broke off on several assemblies. Also, the thinner (3/4") stretchers I used for smaller canvases warped very badly after assembly. These Best Medium stretcher bars are far beyond compare with anything else, they are heavier, solid, hard wood, straight as an arrow, fit together to give square corners, and appear to be made by real craftsmen. I love them.
