Welcome to dickblick
These anatomically proportional one-sixth scale models have over 30 points of articulation allowing them to display virtually the full range of human movement.
They are constructed of highly-durable plastic. A display stand is included.
Choose from male or female models. Both male and female heads have generic facial features, and the hands are crafted with distinctive, expressive fingers to make detailed drawing easier.

Good, But Could Be A Lot Better
from Midland, MI
Comments about Sideshow Collectibles Art S. Buck Anatomical Models:
These models are a little better than the wooden variety, but not as good I was hoping. Since they remove from the stand you can do seated and kneeling poses. The joints don't allow for full range of motion, for example, I wanted a pose with knees bent where the figure was sitting on it's heels and that isn't possible. Also finding a balance point in challenging and they tip over easily so it is necessary to prop them against something. Still more lifelike then the wood version so will continue to use them.

Lots of articulation as expected

I have been looking for some really nice posable figures for a while. The wooden ones tend to break after a while. I just got these, but they seem pretty sturdy. I got the male and female. However, I had to ask for a replacement on the male because one of the joints was locked when it arrived. Blick was nice enough to send me a replacement at no cost. One of the female's hands was detached but it was easy to stick back in. I wish they had clothes for this model. I ended up buying Barbie and Ken clothes for them, but I guess if you're interested in just drawing figures, these would be good for you. They also don't stand on their own very easily (you can make it happen with some effort), but I suppose that's to be expected because they come with their little plastic stands. All in all, I think for the quality, they're worth the price.

Helpful when you don't have a live model

I bought the female version. This model is actually more posable than I expected, which is really nice. I use it to draw profiles and full body action poses, then fill in details by posing in a mirror myself. The proportions are nice overall and she isn't too thin but the bosom is endowed a bit generously. The base is another story. It doesn't really hold or support the model other than in a relaxed standing position. It would be better if it closed more snuggly around the waist but as it is now, the stand is pretty useless.
I was very pleased. Thanks so much!

This mannequin is really good for sketching out ideas for poses or if you're stuck because you can't find a good reference photo for a specific pose you're after. As someone who has graduated from art school, I only highly recommend this product to people who have already learned figure anatomy. Because it's not 100% accurate and if you don't already know how the body moves and proportions, this won't help you. I had a generic wooden mannequin back in the day and it didn't help me. Granted this one is much much better than that, I still advise caution. It's better to learn the right way than to re-learn everything you thought you knew.
it's OK for basic position reference.
I use the female figure, the male was on back order, although did order the male as well, I canceled that order. I'm trying to improve my figure drawing skills, always been a bit of a crutch for me, so a challenge I hope to concur one day.;) I like to draw characters, and wanted a figure that was flexible enough to place in as many poses as I pleased. The stand is terrible! ! Why even package the thing, it doesn't hold her up straight! NOT AS FLEXIBLE as I'd hoped. Hope one day I find one that is. Can't afford live models. I do like the anatomically correct proportions, that helps, still useful for basic reference. :)
