I will buy this product again.

Comments about Arches Field Watercolor Book:
I usually paint on Arches 140lbs and was searching for an affordable sketch book of the same or similar quality. None like Arches! More expensive than other sketch books but worth it if you are not happy with behavior of lesser quality paper.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Arches is like going home
from Rosemont, NJ
After trying an equivalent product from two other famous brands I got the Arches album and find it to be perfect for watercolor. The paint seems to love the paper and flows onto and into the surface in a controlled and lovely way. The colors of the paint on this paper, especially the subtler ones, seem to reach their fullest beauty. It's simply the best for me.
For more than just water colors

I use this book as an archive of my painting process. I keep source photos , sketches and watercolor mock up of my oil paintings. The heavy paper quality helps create a strong base for all of this.

Must have one
from Clermont, FL
I tried buying the cheaper version, but it just wouldn't do. The paper might be okay for sketching, but it's not acceptable for watercolor. If you're on the fence, just go ahead and buy the Arches one.
Just what I wanted
from Felton, DE
I bought the watercolor paper spiral notebook to take on a Mediterranean Cruise in September. I love love Arches 140 lb. cold press paper and the notebook came in the perfect size for quick plein air journalling. It is exactly what I hoped it would be.

This is NOT my beloved Arches paper!
By Mountain Mama
from Boone, NC
I just splurged and bought one of these (and I am a loooonnnggg time Arches watercolor sheet-paper fan) and absolutely hate it. I'm gonna fill it up because I'm cheap and broke – can't afford another sketchbook right now – but the paper in this book is NOT my beloved Arches. The paper is slick, almost glossy, and pigment will not soak into it. I can't find any ink (Copic, Micron, fountain pen, etc) that will sketch on it. Watercolor just sits on top of the paper and takes forever to dry. I keep smearing my painting because I think "it just has to be dry by now," but nope.Makes me want to fling it across the room. Buyer beware.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Merchant response: We're sorry to hear that the Arches paper isn't performing well for you. We will be in touch to assist you soon. In the meantime, you might try laying a wash over the surface of the paper and letting it dry. The natural gelatin sizing used in the Arches papers can develop a surface tension over time. Usually, a wash will "open up" the surface, and once that dries, the paper will behave as normal. A member of our Customer Care Team will be reaching out to assist you.

best paper in a great binder, perfect package
from South Dakota
This is great if you travel or have time to kill waiting for apts, etc. I use to draw in ink then when get home can fill in with watercolor. Paper is the best of any brand I don't waste money on any brand but Archer. But I love these books because they transport so well and are still of high quality of regular Arches watercolor paper. Try them you won't ever buy another brand, promise.

This is great paper for watercolors, just wish that the sketchbook had a little more paper.
