  American Easel Gessoed Wood Painting Panels are manufactured in the USA from  top-quality  1/8&quot; birch, which is sanded to render a smooth, firm painting surface. They're then primed with two coats of acrylic gesso, a universal ground for oil or acrylic painting as well as mixed media work. 
  Cradled with a solid wood frame with smooth, sanded edges, these panels won't flex, stretch, or warp, and they last longer than canvas. The sides are left unprimed, but can be coated with gesso if desired. When your artwork is complete, simply hang it flush to the wall using only a single nail or screw &mdash; no frame required! 
  Available in rectangular or square formats in a variety of sizes, choose a Flat cradle (7/8&quot; deep) or a Deep cradle (1-5/8&quot; deep).
